hold her cheeks, “oh my god, I was about t— what’s wrong? Where you have been? Are you okay?”

He wrapped his arms around her to hug her, he’d kiss the side of her head before he finally let her go. He’d stand there to watch them leave until the gates closed.

Walking up to the gates, he could see Tommy and gave the man a nod before he looked at Rain. His index finger gently lifted her chin. “I love you. Please… be safe,” he really emphasized the please before he placed another kiss on her lips.

He trusts her judgment. He trusts that Tommy will keep her safe. If he starts to get overly worried, he’ll go see Joel, Harry or Sam. His brows raised with a smile spread across his face, “oh? Absolutely,” he’ll surprise her with a nice romantic setting.

“Yes ma’am,” he wraps his arms around her shoulder until his hand slipped into her back pocket to walk with her. He knows she’s not nervous. Normally, he wouldn’t be but since the accident, he’s gotten more and more nervous when she leaves the gates without him.

“I’m always gonna worry about you, cowgirl,” he gave her another kiss, “it’s my job. Just make sure both of you come home.” He won’t leave unless they’re late or they don’t come back.

Eyes closed, leaning into her touch, his head turned slightly to kiss her palm, “mmm, I love you too.” If she’s late, he won’t hesitate to go find her. He’s got his cast off and the brace back on, but he won’t hesitate to go searching if he has to.

He was hoping that’s all it was, if she wasn’t worried then he would try not to be. He smiled down at her, leaning forward to reciprocate the kiss. “Chey and I will have dinner ready for you when you get home.”

His smile slowly faded as he moved to place his hands on her cheeks, “please… be careful. Guess there was sightings of infected… a big one at that.” He knows she can handle herself. He’s just nervous.

“You look ready for a fight,” he smiles at her, leaning against the doorway, “do I gotta kick someone’s ass?”

“Just…” there a pause as he was fighting through sleep, “shove… me off. I’ll be…” he was going to say fine but was out like a light. Only she could get him to settle and rest so quickly.

As soon as digits ran through his hair, his entire body relaxed against hers. There was soft hum to let her know that it felt nice. “Mm, wake me up… when you start on… dinner,” his words were trailing off. Her hands through his hair could put him to sleep in seconds.

Once she encourages him, he carefully shifted so he wouldn’t hurt his leg. His arms wrapped around her and he laid his head down. He missed using her as a pillow and her hands through his hair.

He settled into the couch, taking hold of her hand as she asked if he needed anything. His head shook with a small smile. “Lay with me? Just for a bit?” His thumb brushed over her knuckles.

Placing his arm over her shoulders, he moves with her towards the couch. He knew the moment they met she was stronger than looked. She had survived on her own and from the drawings he’d seen — from scarier things than he’s used to. He sits on the couch and elevates his leg.
