Hi all, after a very long hiatus development of Safe 2.0 has continued!

@thevillamarfirm it's a portable app. nothing special to do.

@aa6e hmm no, though try checking CPU usage across system when transferring files. you should be able to tease out culprit.

@aa6e thanks for the benchmark. yes webdav is likely bottleneck but windows VFS can surprise. next version will use SMB instead.

@faisyl Why not? If you've got an old mac, chances are your hard disk IO takes up way more time than the FileVault overhead.

@justintroutman @znjp don't think @tqbf is a fan. it reuses IVs, thus leaks repeated info on a versioned FS (like Dropbox), secure otherwise

@bobox there are plans to fix this but motivation has been slim given the interest level

@bobox if you open() a new file, write(), close(), rename(), there's no IV reuse. most programs save this way, so it's mostly 100% secure.

@bobox yes, safe is secure outside of reusing IVs for a single file instance => storage can tell when you rewrite a file with the same data.
