@caribbeanpotter @ccfchxw Yes, even found myself cheering on the Aussies in 2022 for similar reasons!
English

@ccfchxw I think you'll find most of us Stokies are disappointed for our main man Sorba, who we'd love to see playing in the World Cup.

@GeoffreyBoycott @englandcricket @root66 To be honest, I think our bowling is the real problem.. we don't seem to worry that our seamers are going for 12 an over, executing their slower ball bouncers perfectly (if you're the batsman!).
English

Our best @englandcricket batsman on spinning pitches @root66 is in England. Last year he batted & bowled superbly for Paarl Royals in SA T20
The pitch in Paarl is slow low & spins nobody could hit his bowling & he scored at over a run a ball, the other
Batsmen played around him

@DarloBun @barneyronay That's true - however this time we actually had the players to win the Ashes but the schedule (before the start of the series) was bonkers & our tactics throughout were not much better! In 2023 we successfully refined our approach during the series - but we didn't learn from that
English

@semperfigulus @barneyronay I dunno. I agree I think the drinking stuff is a red herring. But We’ve been losing most away ashes series badly for a long time now, since well before the 100! And everyone is playing more short form, not just our key players.
English

Of course there is. English cricket was basically founded as a picnic/beer tent. England IS a drinking culture. See: any airport at 6am. Has been for two thousand years. But it's really not the problem here. Smokescreen for the executive...

@DarloBun @barneyronay I'm sure you are right that drinking is less of an issue than it was 30 years ago for top level cricketers and you are certainly right that its a big part of club cricket. Some seem to be blaming recent defeats on this. I feel that the emphasis on t20/hundred is more the issue.
English

@DarloBun @barneyronay If you listen to Kerry O'Keeffe im not sure the Aussies have always practiced abstinence. My feeling is that the alcohol is less of a problem than the obsession with the Hundred and the disregard for the county championship.
English

@Tubs_sport If it was in the air you would be right, but you are not.

This is literally Out, why are fox cricket posting this as if they don't know the rules? Webster does the same thing every ball bowling spin to the right hander

NO-ONE SHOW THIS TO THE POMS... 🫢 A shock umpiring blunder at a critical moment of the fifth #Ashes Test has been revealed. And it's safe to say had it been caught, it could've easily turned 4-1 into 3-2... DETAILS >> bit.ly/4juWX0f
