When 12 people were killed in Charlie Hebdo attacks, World Leaders thronged to Paris for a Solidarity March But no world leader has organised a march to protest killing 2000 civilians, ~200 children, ~300 women, 7 journalists, 178 health workers, and 3 UN peacekeepers in Lebanon

Whethe Suryavanshi ends up playing 100 Tests is something which will depends on a lot of things. Many outside his control. But, lets not pretend that what he's doing is not extraorindary. You can't hit fast bowling like he does without having an exceptional judgment of length.

@sanjaymanjrekar But that ignores the other dimensions to T20 batting. A kid today might say that test batting is easier because one just has to block, and therefore no attacking instinct or capability is required. These sweeping statements are rather lame

I enjoy T20 batting like I would a light snack. I find it hard to truly respect it. Only because it’s ok to get out in T20s. It’s no big deal. No real backlash. And that is why T20 batting excellence is far easier to achieve. Life is easier, when there isn’t much at stake. 😊

If one only paid attention to the Indian media and on line comments, it would be reasonable to conclude that India wants the Islamabad peace talks to fail, just to spite Pakistan. This shows how warped public discourse has become due to India's fixation on its neighbor.

Everytime something nice is written about Vaibhav Suryavanshi, there are always these people who sour the occasion by saying that he is not fifteen and has done age fudging and all that. Guys, the guy has gone through bone densitometry studies and his age has been medically proven. Ok, you don’t want to believe it? That’s ok. What could he be? Sixteen or seventeen? The kid doesn’t have a hair on his face, at best he is 16 or 17 years old. How does that change anything? He is the most exciting teenager cricket has seen since Sachin almost four decades ago. The kid is dragging people to grounds and putting many others in-front of TV screens. Like a true entertainer. All this as a teenager. So, for once, you all sour people, both in India and abroad, pipe down your negativity and enjoy what is one the most exciting sporting talents around. #VaibhavSuryavanshi

This kind of extreme, almost cartoonish, bigotry and stupidity is now the hallmark of our great republic. There is no coming back from this for at least a generation. The BJP may get voted out, but the poison they've injected is powerful and has spread widely.

1/5: In Delhi’s Tri Nagar, some Hindu families appear to have embraced a new form of devotion and a way to deter Muslim neighbours — pigs. The animals are kept in cages at homes, while the walls display posters of a powerful, pig-faced deity adorned in jewellery.

Tonight, Pakistan achieved one of its biggest diplomatic wins in years. It also defied many skeptics and naysayers that didn’t think it had the capacity to pull off such a complex, high stakes feat. But what matters the most is it helped avert a potential catastrophe in Iran.

Wars are tragic, yet they remain a reality. Any language or action that contemplates the end of civilisation is unacceptable in the modern world. The use of nuclear weapons can never be justified - under any circumstances.

Cricket, especially IPL is at such a high level regarding stats and info that commentators and presenters have stepped up their game ten fold. In my week here at the IPL, my experience is there’s no space for simply “winging it” and I’m totally inspired by those that I work with, I hope to bring you the excellence my peers offer you as a viewer. Let the work begin!

I'll copy here what I wrote to one friend. The pro-India elements of Dhurandhar were a powerful response to serious Pakistani Islamist terrorism. The pro-Modi elements of Dhurandhar were cheaply partisan and forced into the narrative. They disrespectfully mobilized the suffering of thousands of people to support a specific political party. It's not uncommon for a great work of art to take a political point of view, and even to make a political statement. It's rare for a great movie to endorse a particular political party.

Stone Age? At a time when you were still in caves searching for fire, we were inscribing human rights on the Cyrus Cylinder. We endured the storm of Alexander and the Mongol invasions and remained; because Iran is not just a country, it is a civilization.

Let's have a constructive chat Its always the bowlers getting asked to upskill but as soon as the pitch has some movement or fair sized boundaries, many batting line ups crumble because the batters cant adjust So who is the one that really needs to upskill? Batters or bowlers?
Harsha Bhogle@bhogleharsha

I know the wickets offer so little to bowlers but the gulf between batting skills and bowling is now huge. And threatens to get even bigger

It’s getting overlooked w/everything else going on, but keep an eye on Nepal. A new govt led by a 35-year-old former rapper took office yesterday. And one of its first moves, led by the home minister, a 38-year-old former DJ, was to arrest the PM ousted in last year’s protests.
