Just two months into 2026 (with the U.S. military’s raid to capture Venezuelan President Maduro in January and the recent strike on Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei) we’re seeing how quickly the Pentagon can onboard or swap frontier AI models across classified networks Anthropic's Claude was reportedly deployed during active operations but within hours of the Anthropic–Pentagon relationship OpenAI signed a deal to deploy its models on classified networks, xAI already had agreements in place and $GOOGL models are being prepared as replacements. The Pentagon literally ran one operation with Claude while simultaneously contracting its successor which is about as clean a demonstration of commoditization as you'll ever see in defense procurement. What didn't get swapped was $PLTR. Palantir is the permanent layer in what's becoming a rapidly rotating AI model stack for defense and intelligence where the drone ecosystem and the AI model ecosystem both feed into and out of Palantir's orchestration layer. In the new age of defense stack, the AI model is the tenant while Palantir is the building.
