Kudos to Finland for pushing for it and getting it approved, but the EBU handled this in a pretty questionable way. What if a delegation had requested an extra person on stage (7 instead of 6) for a special need, and EBU approved it for specific parts of the performance?

Honestly, after the EBU’s apparent favoritism toward Finland, I’d almost rather see Israel win, even though I don’t like their song. At this point, EBU seems to make things worse every year, and maybe cancelling the contest altogether wouldn’t be such a bad idea after all.

Eurovision 2026: Few of my thoughts in regards to 🇬🇷 rehearsal clip and overall perception of the rehearsals. Since I’ve tried to avoid the overall bubble this year I’ve been trying to maintain the “birdview mindset” during rehearsals + avoiding the cognitive dissonance as much as I can related to my positions. It’s always been an open year and you gotta stay open-minded until the end anyways. But now when following the reactions to first clips, we’ve entered to idiocracy territory and the takes are again so so dumb like every other year, like no one has ever learned any lessons from following the rehearsals. 1) First of all, regarding to all clips. Why on Earth people don’t get it, these are REHEARSALS clips. They’re not supposed to totally polished and they don’t have an audience. Why would you criticize some small details during the rehearsals phase? Like how dumb you gotta be to criticize the sound or how empty does it feel without the audience? 2) Greece. I overall liked the clip. It didn’t really exceed much my expectations, neither wasn’t it below my expectations. Considering the part of the song, it was nicely executed. Akylas has a really good energy and character, stage is filled well. There’s an effort for staging what juries tend to appreciate and if we combine it with the overall description, then there’s a lot of going on, and it will be likely the most rewatchable performance of the year. And you can sense the trigger for motivation to vote for it in the Final context. Potential cons and concerns are mostly related to the overall description we already had before (not to the clip) - if there’s so much going on, could it feel in full version too messy, overwhelming or tacky? Or less organic? And could the mother’s peak moment feel too fake with this package? And is there enough central identity? These are some concerns we can’t really address before seeing the whole show full. But the clip itself is rather promising. One concern is also related to the AI usage. When I’m reading the comments then there seems to be a general negative sentiment against AI. Could that have a relevant impact on the result? But then again, Greece is doing pretty well with the rehearsal clip stats so far, so there’s probably enough love at the same time and hence it may be not that relevant concern. 3) I would compare the current reaction to the reaction to Nemo’s, Netta’s or Poli Genova’s rehearsals. Or even to reaction to Viggo Venn’s performance. Also, Mahmood comes to mind. Nemo and Netta both brought absolutely amazing stagings, elevating their studio/video version. It was obvious, but at the same time bunch of idiots on the Twitter and on markets kept bashing it with some delusional disappointment and critics. I never had even a single bet on Netta before the Semi-Finals but started buying aggressively after it drifted post-SF/rehearsals and built a 6-figure position. Similarly with Nemo, I didn’t have a single bet until rehearsals, but after the staging I was more sold on it and the odds had better value as well. Viggo Venn drifted during/after his Final performance (wtf is this shit, can’t win), although ended up winning with a big landslide. It doesn’t matter if the first reaction is WTF, what matters is MOTIVATION & URGE to vote. And demographical realities. Current rehearsals data shows that at least the diaspora is active, and this amount of effort and slickness usually works with juries. They also tried to push KAJ as a winner last year as they do it with Finland now. Gave them a perfect slot (as to France), while burying Israel and Estonia at #2 and #3. How did that work out? Or a push for Ryder and Cornelia against Kalush? There may be reasonable concerns until we see everything full but the clip for Greece or updates re Finland didn’t change really anything as significantly. Just crazy over-emotional reactions and opportunities to buy the dips or lay the surges, like every other year.

Honestly, I can’t keep up with all these accounts spreading extreme toxicity and fake news. Linda is playing playback , CLEAR. No change in the staging… Also, based on what I’ve heard, the two countries that have truly impressed on stage are France and Greece. #Eurovision
