My job was to buy companies and boost their potential, by setting a strategy, incentivising the management, and providing the capital to GROW, creating thousands of jobs. I’ve had a long career, but I checked the figures for the eight biggest companies we boosted: their combined revenues were 2.5x higher by the time we sold them, and we doubled employment with an extra 24,000 jobs. Let me tell you, Scotland has massive, massive potential for a boost!

Watch as police officers confront a man suspected of carrying out a terrorist attack in north London where two men were stabbed. The suspect refused to show his hands, was violent and continued to pose a clear threat. Using only their training, courage and tasers, they detained him while he continued to try to attack and stab them. This took true courage.

Except we’ve seen the video and it’s horrific. Kicking a man in the head repeatedly with heavy boots, when he’s face down on the ground, and disarmed, looks less like courage and more like out of control violence.

Football reporters should never ever, ever, ever use the word ‘disaster’ in relation to giving a goal away. We’ve just marked the Hillsborough tragedy. Check your language. Do much better.
