@BismrkBear Agreed. It was rushed up the chart going from #6 to 3 to 1 and then dropped abruptly out of the top 10. Only 3 weeks in the top 10 total. Pretty unheard of in that era for a #1 record. Got to #1 just before Elton‘s MSG shows that John appeared at as a reward for John’s 1st #1

My Conspiracy Theory: Whatever Gets You Through The Night was a top 20- top 10 hit at best. Billboard goosed it to Number One only to ensure that John Lennon would join Elton John on stage at MSG. #AT40

While this special #At40 producer countdown, aired only weeks after the top ranked producer, Rick Hall, landed at number one with the infamous you’re having my baby, Rick never again had number one record.

@NuMusicNuLife @tjmcaulay Giorgio’s first really big hit as a producer wasn’t til late 1975, Love to Love You Baby. If #at40 had redone this countdown for the rest of the 70s, which sadly, they didn’t, he would no doubt have been up there.
