@ephemerealities @st0len_val0r666 @beetlegender who the fuck are these psychiatrists bro if something close to bipolar is present but there’s no full mania u diagnose unstable bipolar and don’t classify the type then u medicate with lamotrigine or lithium because they can repair grey matter damage and prevent full form

@tachyhya @st0len_val0r666 @beetlegender a lot of people with bipolar 2 eventually progress to bipolar 1 as well when they experience their first full manic episode. almost everyone i know with bipolar 1 was first diagnosed with bipolar 2 since they had only experienced hypomania at the time

@SlackfulCyclops @constans there’s no way they’re genuinely putting him in jail though right because they’d have to cover his medical costs and needs and they kick out elderly people in jail for much less

@ephemerealities @st0len_val0r666 @beetlegender and the grey matter loss caused by an episode causes emotional dysregulation, causing mood swings and eventually depression. most people with type 1 get a ‘crash’ after an extreme episode because they need weeks to recover in bed because of brain damage and cognitive loss

@ligmathong @ndsnas a gratuitous or faithful depiction of sexual assault on tv or film could negatively impact a woman’s wellbeing if she suffers from ptsd you don’t need a study saying someone who’s been traumatised by an event would be negatively impacted by seeing it in tv or film

@vo_ro_na basically the advantage is: you had the genes possible for causing bipolar you had the event possible for causing it to fully form but your brain never experienced the grey matter loss needed to fully form the condition you lost the lottery twice then won, good job

I am owed a long explanation from nature as to what the evolutionary advantage of my cyclothymia might possibly be. Is swinging from a demiurgic temperament to abject depression every day really efficient?

@ephemerealities @st0len_val0r666 @beetlegender cyclothymia is closer to prebipolar in how it presents, whilst the diagnostic criteria of bipolar disorder is just ‘have they had a manic or major depressive episode yes or no’

@st0len_val0r666 @beetlegender no cyclothymia is its own thing. if you have unspecified bipolar disorder it basically means your symptoms are akin to a bipolar disorder but don't fit any of them, including cyclothymia

@femfederation wtf r u talking about bipolar 1 and 2 are insanely different diagnoses, one gets manic episodes that are by law, uncontrollable and include hallucinations and cognitive impairment that causes extreme brain damage and i’m not gonna dignify the cyclothymia one with a response

@cattobingu @Xenoimpulse also the cyclothymia diagnosis very much could’ve been a prebipolar diagnosis, since it’s nicknamed prebipolar. when in actuality prebipolar is what’s before ur first major episode which diagnoses you. thus cyclothymia presents as prebipolar but never fully forms.

@tachyhya @Xenoimpulse i’m 28 😔 though i was diagnosed with cyclothymia as a hormonal teenager and bipolar 2 by two different psychs in the last 5 years so i suppose that might be more accurate? i’m not sure i fit the criteria but i do heavily relate to a lot of it

@cattobingu @Xenoimpulse cyclothymia is very rare and often dismissed, i guess the biggest differential is it won’t hit major depressive episode levels like bipolar 2 and the hypomania experienced isn’t true hypomania and more symptoms based

@kazuhikoCult people talk about schizos all the time and I personally like calling people schizotypal. people call others narcissist or sociopaths/ anti-social. I think there are more people with histrionic disorder than we acknowledge but most people don't know what that is
