People. The OGL change doesn't mean a thing, for people willing to do the hard work. You CAN still make content for any game system. You just have to do it smart. The people that learn and teach themselves how to do this will dominate the market.

@takingd20 Let's not pretend there's any one other IP that has as big of an audience at dnd. Any other system someone creates for is going to have a MUCH smaller market with far fewer potential customers.

@takingd20 But people are going to want their work to be 5e compatible. So if they "work around" the OGL 1.1 and don't sign it in such a way that annoys WotC, they are running the risk of being sued. Petty? Sure. Still entirely possible.

@takingd20 If someone makes content for D&D right now there are very good odds that within the next month or two they will need to sign away their rights entirely to WotC. Seems like a pretty terrible time to jump in.
