Belgium can have the soccer win. They earned it. But to all the Europeans talking crazy… we’ll happily line up on the football field next. 11 vs 11. Pads on. No running away. Let’s see who owns “football.” 🇺🇸🏈😂

@fiago7 I want to say Mexico, only if, England make the final. But in terms of objectives. Canada. I imagine, Mexico losing in a home game at Azteca in the round of 16 hardly wasn't the ceiling they were aspiring for.

@jansobieski51 @RichBucciarelli @CanadaSoccerEN Do you use eyes to watch the game? Hakimi is very influential in all his games, Champions league, domestic and internationally. Except against Laryea. And you don't like that?!? Worst example.Ever.... No one with eyes would agree with that. Even phonsy didn't want to play hakimi

@RichBucciarelli @CanadaSoccerEN Marsch is cringe. We need more european style soccer players like Estaquio, Davies, Johnston, Sigur, and less like Laryea etc who play nonsense ball. The difference in play developed in North America and Europe was on display in USA-BEL and the US is better than CAN.

⚽️🇨🇦 My thoughts on @CanadaSoccerEN Canadian Men’s National Team Head Coach Jesse Marsch’s comments following the 3-0 loss to Morocco, and CBC commentator Troy Deeney’s response: 1️⃣ Canada were not “the better team.” 2️⃣ Perhaps “I’d rather be us than them” is simply because Canada has a bigger upside; if not, then it’s pretty stupid. 3️⃣ If we’re going to get better, we need more honesty and less cheerleading. 4️⃣ Canada Soccer, @OntarioIsSoccer and the other Provincial governing bodies have been selling us poo in a bag and calling it “chocolate” for decades. Don’t buy it! ⬇️ Thoughts?

@RichBucciarelli @CanadaSoccerEN Marsch's perspective makes sense. He's not even cheerleading. All objectives met and an objectively good 60 against a world top 10, an improvment on the good-45 against the 🇨🇭playing his identity. A crisp win over 🇿🇦 improvement over the Copa 🇻🇪 win. He's done well with the keys

@rgfray1 @sidseixeiroshow Interesting take. And valid when it comes to the last 20 minutes a goal down. Counter point. Phonsy was barely outclassing his counter against SA, Hakimi may have exposed his key advantage without the hammy, and a healthy Shaff was the better option for covering

Marsch taking reigns of the U-20s is the type of dedication and commitment to trying to find a new level for the #CanMNT - I'm not the biggest fan of his chess, but the goal oriented, development focused, forward thinking, standard setting he does is exceptional. I'm very pleased

@rgfray1 @sidseixeiroshow Sid hot takes are rarely good takes. The lack of a fan following is a byproduct of not having any regional/international titles. If Davies stole the game or sacrificed himself, maybe? But the risk reward for a non title finish doesn't math.

Is this true? No one was waiting for Canada’s Men Soccer team at Pearson yesterday besides family?? Did Canada Soccer blow this home World Cup? @sidseixeiroshow #canmnt

@tombogert The foul against him did lead to a goal. So, it did factor.

For all of the controversy surrounding Flo Balogun's availability... he was mostly a non-factor against Belgium. Balogun had moments, including winning the free kick that led to USMNT goal, but was largely limited. Credit to Belgian defense. nytimes.com/athletic/74264…

Interesting enough, US corruption earned #USMNT a goal, as the free kick came from a Balugun foul.

@RichBucciarelli I do imagine that this is a director/organisational role. Sometimes an outsider is helpful for evaluating, drawing from, and consolidating existing stakeholders. Your scrutiny is valid though - and hopefully the press release is designed to ensure he will be scrutinised.

⚽️🇨🇦 In any serious soccer country, the idea of hiring a 24 year-old as “Director of Technical Development,” and then entrusting them to lead the development of a “national training centre” to identify and develop the most talented 14-17 year-old players in the country, would be laughable…but then again, Canada is not a serious soccer country. 🤷🏻‍♂️If you thought that co-hosting the World Cup would be “transformative” for Canadian soccer, think again. Whatever “revenue” we generate, or “investment” we receive, will all be wasted by incompetent and corrupt leadership. ⬇️ Thoughts?

@JacobPacheco6 ref indicated that he hit the ball - the moment he reviewed it, he instantly changed his call. Game moves very fast, and the refs are pretty good on most egregious challenges.

What a silly challenge here by Jarell Quansah. No attempt for the ball at all. Deserved a red there. What's even more insane to me is that the ref let that initially go. #FIFAWorldCup

@10Bernardeschi nono, I agree with you. It was cool when it was edgey 10-20 years ago. But even Beckham today stopped the practice because good fashion sense is part of his brand. Their tailor is must be fuming.

How about when Steve Nash (#SNFTG) QUIT Canada Basketball in 2003 after they failed to qualify for the 2004 Summer Olympics? No injury, chose personal/career/club over country 😳
