#ONStorm #ONwx Central Ontario is completely paralyzed following this weekend’s devastating ice storm. Over 350,000 customers are currently without power, and that number continues to climb.
Some of the hardest-hit regions include:
•Kawartha Lakes: 87% without power
•Peterborough: 79% without power
•Simcoe County: 75% without power
•Haliburton: 51% without power
•Hastings: 49% without power
•Parry Sound: 49% without power
•Muskoka: 40% without power
•Dufferin: 40% without power
•Prince Edward: 28% without power
•York: 27% without power
•Durham: 22% without power
•Grey: 21% without power
•Frontenac: 16% without power
We hope everyone is staying safe and warm.
The good news? The worst is behind us. A gradual warm-up is expected through the afternoon and evening, which should help with melting.
However, power outages may still increase before they improve, as heavy ice remains on power lines and trees. Restoration efforts will take time, and cleanup in the hardest-hit areas could take days—if not weeks.
Stay safe, everyone.
