20 YEARS. ONE FALSE RAPE CASE. AN ENTIRE FAMILY ERASED.
Arrested at 23. Released at 43.
Not because he was guilty — but because the system took two decades to admit it was wrong.
He spent 20 years in prison for a rape he never committed.
While he was locked away, his parents died, his elder brother died, and he wasn’t even allowed to perform their last rites. Outside jail, the stigma didn’t stop — his younger brother’s life was destroyed too, never married, permanently branded because of one false allegation.
This man kept fighting when most would have broken.
Justice finally came — painfully late — when Advocate Shweta Singh Rana, appointed through State Legal Services, took up the case and exposed what the system ignored for years: the allegation was false.
Now ask the questions we are not allowed to ask loudly:
How many men are still rotting in jails because truth moves slower than accusations?
How many families have been wiped out by false cases?
And will the woman who lied face any punishment at all?
This is not justice delayed.
This is justice destroyed.
