Martin O'Neill refuses to rule out staying at #Celtic next season in some capacity. Expects to hold talks with Michael Nicholson and Dermot Desmond. Describes 2025/26 as a 'wake-up call' for the club and that success cannot be taken for granted. 🔗 heraldscotland.com/sport/25994978…

You ain’t winning a league if your right back options are Colby Donovan and Tony Ralston for a title run in. Neither should be at the club. Managed decline

@tirnaog_09 Not sure we’ll ever see prime Jota again. Hardly played regular football for best part of three years with a major injury thrown in.

Morning all, welcome to another week. Celtic have missed this guy since his injury. The modern game demands wingers who create and weigh in with the odd goal. Hopefully he'll be with us next season & back on form.

@FinnrikLarsson @MarkEglinton Force of personality is a big thing as Celtic manager - that was a reason Ange got away with his mixed start. WN didn’t have that with fans/players. Some of the squad chucked it under him, but they ain’t much better supposedly behind MON.

That’s pretty uncontroversial. Although I do think far too much blame was aimed his way and far too little at the players who made schoolboy level errors over and over again. I mean, we carved out more guilt edged chances against Roma than we have in weeks. But listen, it’s a results business. He can have no complaints.

Celtic have played very little attractive football this season, but the best of it was during a fleeting few minutes under Wilfried Nancy.

@MarkEglinton @FinnrikLarsson If Nancy began after cup final, he may have got off to a better start. Prob was he didn’t, changed tactics in midst of 3 big games, lost them all & players/fans never got onside. No doubt though we are now playing worse than under him with more or less same outcomes.

@FinnrikLarsson Not unpopular with me at all. Timing was terrible but I envisage, sometime in the future, Nancy popping up managing a very decent team.

@mikeyk_67 KI would not look outta place upfront in Soccer Aid. He’s done. To be fair to other two, I don’t think we play to any of the strengths they may have. They certainly don’t get the service.

Iheanacho - Cvancara - Adamu Is genuinely the worst set of strikers I’ve seen at Celtic in my life, not to mention Kenny and Yamada out on loan as well. This board and “recruitment” really don’t have a clue at all.

@theportgreen67 @Fitzy__07 If we could have harnessed some of the attacking intent under Nancy, it would have helped. A few games aside, there’s been none of it under MON.

@twobobhack @Fitzy__07 That is the long and short of it,MON been out of the game for a decade and it shows,we have ridden our luck and relied on scraps of quality that have kept us in the hunt, think we all knew it couldn't/wouldn't last All highly depressing tbh

I thought the COVID season would never be beaten, but the way Celtic have operated this season has been wild: - Didn't buy Rodgers a striker in the Summer - Lost out on Champions League to Kairat Almaty - Got Sevilla to release Iheanacho so we could sign him on a free

@Fitzy__07 That squad still had enough to beat Kairat, but not replacing the best part of 100 goals/assists in Kyogo, Khun and a wantaway Daizen ain’t rocket science to see there could be problems this year!

@Fitzy__07 If you take this season as a standalone, Kairat is the sliding doors moment. Win that, cash spent - even though minted already. Rodgers would likely still be here and league probably won. Let’s be honest too. A proper functioning club doesn’t have MON as boss in 2026.

@tirnaog_09 MON will have always have a prominent place in Celtic history. If we were a proper functioning club, though, MON would never be Celtic manager in 2026.

Martin O'Neill has squeezed a 65% win rate out of this side. This season has seen Celtic lose 8 league matches for the first time this century. The league isn't over though it looks a forlorn hope now, but there's a cup to be fought for too. On we march.

@ETimsNet A Scottish Cup win will be as secondary as it was in MON’s last match - first time around - in 2005. A trophy hardly worth celebrating.

@twobobhack Not the point, if he didn’t want to come we should have found someone similar level. If MON had any say at all in Mvuka then he would have gave him more minutes. Ken

@TheParkheadF Short term, the Scottish Cup only means something if it’s part of a double. The bigger picture, we all know what has to happen. The likelihood? Remote.

Given today’s result, the league title is not mathematically over, nor is it completely out of our reach. Yes, it’s extremely difficult from here but it’s still possible. So I want to ask you all, and I want honesty. What are your genuine hopes for the rest of this season? And beyond that what are your honest expectations for the summer? What do you want to see from the board? From the manager? From the squad? When we get to the start of August, what does Celtic Football Club look like in your eyes? What changes have been made? Who’s been moved on? Who’s been brought in? What does that rebuild look like to you? Because let’s be honest, this season has been a mess in so many ways recruitment issues, questionable management decisions, fan unrest, the Green Brigade situation, and just a general feeling that things haven’t been right at the club. So what would you actually accept as a positive outcome? Would you take a Scottish Cup win or nothing if it meant a full rebuild and real change behind the scenes? Or would that still not be enough given everything that’s happened? No right or wrong answers here I just want to hear what people genuinely want to see from Celtic in the months ahead.
