A thought to consider

The United Kingdom has endlessly appeased the criminal regime in Iran. The Prime Minister speaks of protecting the innocent civilians of Iran but failed to act to help stop the regime’s massacre of 40,000 innocent Iranians in January. Only an end to this regime - that brings terror to Britain’s own shores - will yield lasting peace and regional stability. Keir Starmer should follow in the footsteps of Churchill, not Chamberlain. He should support the Iranian people’s fight for liberty. The Iranian people will remember who stood with them in their hour of need and who stood against them. There is still time for the Government to change course: prosecute the IRGC that slaughters innocents, expel the illegitimate regime's ambassador, and act to support the people of Iran.

In 2006, Hezbollah committed withdrawal all their forces North of the Litani River. It was codified in UN Resolution 1701 while mandate of the UNIFIL, the UN peacekeeping force was modified & expanded to monitor their withdrawal. This was to create a 20-30 km buffer zone that would give Israel the security they needed & would only be occupied by neutral peacekeepers. This was meant to be step one & that it would lead to a Good Friday Agreement like process that would ultimately disarm & or integrate Hezbollah’s fighters into the Lebanese military & allow Hezbollah to participate in the Lebanese parliament as a political party. Here we are 20 years later, Hezbollah never withdrew, Hezbollah has been attacking northern Israeli villages & towns almost nonstop since Oct 7th. UNIFIL never took control of the buffer zone, the UN has never condemned Hezbollah for failing to fulfill their obligations but frequently condemns Israel for daring to respond to attacks against their citizens. And the Lebanese gov & military has never been able to stop them either. Epic failures abound & for 20 years, Israel has paid the only price for all of it.

Threatening to target power plants and other non-military targets is not strength. If those words become orders to destroy civilian infrastructure with no valid military purpose, it’s hard to see how they would not violate the laws of armed conflict. America leads best with strength, discipline, and professionalism. Illegal orders to make civilians suffer would be a black mark on our military and our country.
