The Giants reportedly pursued a trade earlier in the offseason for Chiefs veteran linebacker Drue Tranquill. From @JordanRaanan of @ESPN on his @BreakingBigBlue Podcast: “The linebacker that the Giants actually were going to trade for, from the Kansas City Chiefs, it seemed to be before the start of free agency, Drue Tranquill. He ended up staying in Kansas City, taking a pay cut to stay. Seems to be something he wanted to do. He didn't want to leave there. So it was something that fell through.” The 30-year-old Tranquill, who had 103 tackles and 2 sacks for the Chiefs in 2025, ended up restructuring his contract to stay with Kansas City for the 2026 season. The Giants ended up signing veteran linebacker Tremaine Edmunds to a 3-year deal at the start of free agency.
