Our team is currently in the middle of some interesting research surrounding present day use cases for Keccak, but a key takeaway is still the importance of teams making a clearer distinction between which version of the code they're using, because it's probably not SHA-3.

Many commonly used SHA-3 hashing libraries are actually just Keccak-256. This confused teams even before the standardization of SHA-3, and many advocated for better due diligence in naming SHA-3 libraries, but the issue persists.

Before considering the differences between SHA-3 and Keccak, you first need to understand the relationship between them. Both are hash algorithms, and within networks like @ethereum, serve as building blocks for Proof of Work (PoW) consensus algorithms.
