Spot on @rebeccakaden about the vibe gap - going from extraction to synthesis is hard. Have you tried context engineering? Providing LLMs w/ some of the context & wisdom your team brings to the table (background & historical information, guidelines & principles, etc.) at the right time and in the right way could help bridge a lot of the vibe gap . I've found it really moves the needle (humans still required).

Why automated board meeting reporting rules but automated board meeting reporting + human driven hot takes is still the really good stuff. And other things we're learning as we rebuild the @usv OS and discover the edges where AI tools + human ideas need to meet as we rethink what running a thesis driven early stage VC firm means today. More on it below.

@mattshumer_ The thing all these coding tools are missing is memory and orchestration. Can’t wait to see what you build!

I’ve been spending the last couple weeks trying to figure out how to give AI a real long-term memory (this is central to an upcoming product we’re building). Really close to getting it right. The product experience this enables is… really insane. Very excited.

Between tasks, all context gets wiped away. It's like working with a genius who gets amnesia every 15 minutes. We've updated our Memory Bank system to use fewer tokens while maintaining project memory across sessions so Cline has persistent memory. Here's how it works: 🧵

When I co-founded @EniacVC with my friends and partners @Hadley @nihalmehta @timy0ung in 2009, we recognized a unique opportunity to build a new venture capital firm to serve founders at the earliest stage of their journey - seed - which did not exist back then as an institutional asset class.  That moment has arrived again for me. After 15 years of building Eniac, I’m leaving to start a new firm. It’s been an incredible ride taking Eniac from a scrappy startup with a $1.5mm fund to a top-performing VC firm with over $500mm in AUM. I couldn’t be more grateful to my partners, the founders and LPs who chose to work with me over the years. I will continue in an official capacity to serve the portfolio companies I backed.  Looking ahead, I am energized by novel foundational technology - catalyzed by open ecosystems - creating boundless opportunities across the technical stack for decades to come. Stay tuned and mad love to my partners, what a journey!

If you are a CEO and sending an email for Fundraising that says: I am reaching out to you personally... Then I am confused? - Who else if not you would be reaching out? - Or you are reaching out to ME personally? In which case it is obvious - its my inbox.

@rexsalisbury @toptal And you haven't even talked about the downside protection of a SAFE vs a note...Notes are senior to safes (given they are debt) and often come with liquidation preferences.

SAFEs have a flaw. if company never raises equity, note never converts, you never get the equity! this happened w/ @toptal. and investor "got" 10% for $1M via a note that never converted. Toptal is now worth ~$1B. investor have ~$100M reasons to be upset and is suing. This flaw is well known and not really a big deal 99% of time. curious, what are other stories of this happening?

I’ve had a lot of fun working with @JiquanNgiam and testing @Lutra_AI , you should check it out!
Jiquan Ngiam@JiquanNgiam

1/ Excited to share more about what we’re crafting at @Lutra_AI ! Lutra generates workflows by transforming your English instructions into code, orchestrating apps to efficiently complete tasks for you. Our early users have used Lutra for workflows ranging from enriching an Airtable with web data (video below 🎥), web monitoring with sentiment analysis, summarizing Slack conversations to stay on top of things, to automating Gmail responses and Calendar scheduling. Lutra’s approach is unique: We use AI to generate code that calls out to your apps and glues them together to accomplish it – think code interpreter 🤖 meets apps 🛠️ and integrations. When it runs, it feels like AI agents that are able to accomplish complex tasks for you. 🚀

@jefielding They use it as a form of capital. They can offer to “signal boost” lps/portcos/founders, tote vanity metrics about “brand reach”, etc. It’s a lot easier than achieving top quartile returns.

Just learned that a big west coast venture fund has 4 content / media people on staff pumping out video and hot takes across channels. Not an agency, full time people. I’m speechless about this whole thing or maybe I’m just living under a rock…🪨

When starting @untappedvc, the first thing I did was starting to code a custom CRM w automations, until I realized coding wasn’t the best use of any time. No code was picking up, so I switched and built our whole CRM on no code. I lost functionality but it was faster to build. But now that AI can write code for me, I use much less no code. So I started prototyping what my ideal AI first CRM would look like this weekend… (to be continued - not in this thread but later)
