To say, "God is love," is to say the whole truth all at once. Everything after that is exposition. Everything contrary to that is heresy.

“God is love” (1John 4:8), therefore God is infinitely merciful. Mercy is a dimension of love. God is love, therefore God is infinitely just. Justice is a dimension of love. God is love, therefore God is patient. Patience is a dimension of love. God is love, therefore God is humble. Humility is a dimension of love. God is love, therefore God is kind. Kindness is a dimension of love. God is love, therefore God is generous. Generosity is a dimension of love. God is love, therefore God is relationally faithful. Faithfulness is a dimension of love. Everything that is true of God, is true of God, because, and precisely because, God is love. All good and beautiful attributes of personhood are present in God in perfect synthesis and equilibrium, each one contributing to the totality of God’s character and together composing the whole reality of who God is.

The resurrection of Christ was the triumph of love over selfishness. An onslaught of violent hate was unleashed upon Him, but He just kept on loving us to the utter end of Himself.
