Two identical twins grow up in exactly the same environment and have the same experiences. If one commits a crime and the other doesn't, what explains the difference?

There, the same DNA wise. They may feel a connection to each other. So there, not a product of there environment. Maybe one was able to deal with emotions better than the identical sibling. Being born identical as you say doesn’t make them the same person. It could be possible one had a different prospective on what they wanted

@Kekius_Sage 🤔 freewill I guess. Nobody can make decisions for you. Would be nice in the future if say Neuralink was paired with grok and he would chime in and be like... "You really wanna do that? You are risking 5-10 years in jail." 🤣

@Kekius_Sage Like Habil and Qabil—the sons of the Prophet Adam—one was generous, while the other was ambitious. We might even view ambition as a symbol of existence itself; for in my view, were it not for desire and aspiration, would we have any purpose in this world? I do not think so.

@Kekius_Sage The twins do not share their brains obviously, each perceives their environment differently. Thoughts are not intertwined nor are stimuli created the same. Humans are unique animals.

if it was a petty crime, there is no difference. the difference would be found if one committed a major crime. also, one twin (like me) could have a sporadic cerebrovascular birth defect in his frontal lobe. mine definitely affected my ability to make good decisions and i have done some petty crime.

@Kekius_Sage In addition to nurture being slightly different, nature is as well. Identical twins are not perfectly identical. The neural network differs a bit.

@Kekius_Sage Perhaps one was abused & the other was not: . Research indicates that childhood maltreatment—physical, sexual, or emotional—substantially increases the likelihood of engaging in violence and chronic offending later in life.

@Kekius_Sage When you open your eyes information is being experienced . Impossible for 2 to think identically the same . Thinking is what divides us from uniting . You were taught at school to think deeply instead of clearly. Now many can't stop thinking deeply . Yet choice was always there

@Kekius_Sage Obviously their mind perception . You see no two minds think the same identically why ? Because of information input . A picture says a thousand words . No two minds could ever download identical thoughts thinking of what they are experiencing . Yet we are all connected to God.

@Kekius_Sage There are never two identical experiences because experience is inherently subjective. So isn’t the very idea of "identical experiences" an illusion?🙃

@Kekius_Sage One has a sense of limitations and the other doesn’t. You can represent this using the example of children being stopped from doing irresponsible things by their parents.

But how often does that happen? Not often. The answer is not cut and dry. Yes, someone mentioned free will but hard work in this world is a big fat lie especially in this day and age. It's who you know, not what you know. People are so hungry enough that they brown nose the boss, snitch on your co-workers or sleep with the boss. They are willing to do anything rather than 'hard work'. We would need to know "what motivated the successful twin". "How they become successful". Etc. The twin who was successful probably had someone give them a helping hand. Every successful person did not do it alone in this world. Let's take Trump as an example. He said his father 'loaned' him money to buy his first real estate. Without the father, what's the % Trump could have made it? What if a bank wouldn't have given him the loan? Would he have obtained the money using dodgy means? If he was hungry enough, perhaps. Opportunities, doors opening at the right time or someone believed in them is always the story behind a successful person. Another answer could be one wanted money the fast way rather than work for it the hard way. Mindset, psychology can play a role. One could have experienced sexual abuse, whereas the other did not. We need to see the whole picture. See their story. Why do teenage girls run away from home and end up as a child prostitute? Is it because they woke up one morning and decided "I think I will sell my body today". No, most likely home wasn't safe. Probably met a man on the street who said he would take care of her.... ends up with a pimp. She was looking for love in all the wrong places. So why does she leave? She either have to go back to the abusive family or stick with what she has .... not much of a choice especially when the teenager is actually looking for help. I can go on why a person can be successful and the other is not. Some will say mind set....but it's not all that simple.

@Kekius_Sage The only thing that is identical is looks and some, not all behaviors. Brains develop differently. One twin can end up being a conservative, the other a communist. It only takes one degree of departure for the end result to be miles apart.

They still have enough difference in location and POV to have to be their own individuals. This seems true even for conjoined twins. They still have processing in the privacy of their own brain, to not be able to give a complete sharing of experience. Then, i think they have an instinctual impulse to be different than their parents and their siblings. Being “the same” as everyone is redundancy —what is being learned then ?? But what if, we had brain-chips that permitted “voluntary” —empathy and experience exchange ? Would we become the Borg or would we be able to lift each other into more coordinated empowerments with one another ??
