Media Institute comes to NYC TODAY at The Hub at Hope Church! We’re grateful to @taaforg for their partnership & MI co-directors @pamelawu, @helloellenlee & @TomokoHosaka for bringing their expertise & providing a safe space for AAPI community leaders to learn about media. /1

Today’s instructors include Toan Lam (@ToanLamTV), Victoria Lim (@VictoriaLim) and Chris Nguyen (@chrisnguyentv). We begin with opening remarks and introductions of the participants, and it’s joyful to see the love and drive to uplift AAPI voices among all.

@VictoriaLim and @ToanLamTV's first sessions focused on how community leaders should work with the media. Some tips: 🌟 Make it easy for journalists to understand coverage angles. 🌟 Ninja tip from Toan: It’s important to know who you’re speaking to & when, even in ethnic media.

@ChrisNguyenTV shared his tips on how to present yourself on TV (and Zoom interviews!), with enlightening video examples and live examples from our instructors.

Guest speaker @CeFaanKim on building relationships with reporters: “Make it a point to build relationships from the ground up. Never underestimate any relationship you build with a journalist, you never know where they’ll be in the next 5-10 years.”
