Criollos stopped calling thmeselves that well by the mid-late 1800s. By the time Martí said “no hay razas” it was put to words. As LATAM Literary Tradition arose with Rodó & Darío, Criollo was only the dog, the horse, el maíz, la yuca, el plátano, la música y el baile.

Algo que me tomó realmente por sorpresa en su momento es la cantidad considerable de criollos y blancos (~82% euro) que tiene (muchos para ser andino). Realmente no es tan raro que un blanco se identifique como "mestizo" en más regiones con más ascendencia europea.
