Tragic news coming from Mathura,Virndavan (Uttar Pradesh): Boat accident on the Yamuna near a pontoon bridge; around 25–27 people were onboard. Prima facie, the boat collided with the bridge. 10 bodies recovered so far; rescue ops underway with Police, Fire teams, divers. NDRF & SDRF teams en route; search for missing continues. There is information about six Ludhiana people on the boat as a lot of devotees from Punjab go to Virndavan.

A 14-year-old boy was bit by a snake in Amroha, UP. The parents, instead of rushing him to hospital, took him to a tantrik who suggested lowering the boy in the Ganga river for 12 hours. The boy eventually died.
