@inkfycreates Dojima's case is less a "terrible father" and more a "depressed father" imo

@inkfycreates True but some people go a bit far in the other direction. Dojima was depressed after the death of his wife and became a workaholic to cope with it. He wasn't just hurting Nanako but himself too.

In my most recent P4 post people were trying to downplay Dojima neglecting Nanako when the whole reason she is depressed is because she barely gets out of the house and watches TV all day with no other company.

One of the things I always disliked about HD-2D aesthetics is that the sprites always look like they're from the SFC for some reason but we can do so much more with sprites today. Lookat Vanillaware's work. Maybe their bugets are just that limited? Not sure.

@cruelmusings Honestly tho, these arcade bro ideas taking hold of the gaming industry would probably be an improvement for the action game output of the industry, which is most of the industry anyway lol

@cruelmusings Exactly, I like some of Mark's videos and I remember seeing Blader argue with 1000 people about how bad it is when devs offload balancing to players with those "QOL" sliders and he was 100% right so I don't dislike arcade bros. But yeah universalization is where they fall apart

@5umando I don't know how common since there aren't polls on these things as far as I know, but I know blader believes this, while another notable guy, The Electric Underground aka MarkMSX who's on YouTube does believe that visuals at least are important, so it's not a universal opinion.

@cruelmusings Oh I very much disagree then. This would very much lead to games only being judged by just how "fun" they are moment to moment. Is it the common view for arcade bros?

@5umando As in, if you removed all visuals, "unnecessary" animations, and narrative aspect of the game and it was just the bare minimum to convey the "important" parts of the gameplay.

@5umando He in particular has argued that games should be judged by contextless void logic, so for at least some of them, yes.

You're right Atlus said they wanted to bring unicorn overlord to PC but it was an agreement with Vanillaware that didn't allow it.
