Life update, I’m going back to my home city to be a child psychiatrist!!

Excited for all the people that got to start attending #AACAP23 today! I’ll be flying in tomorrow and am planning to attend the rest of the week. This will be my first national conference and my first time in NYC since I was a kid! Would love to connect with others going! #AACAP

Its annoying how people both in AND out of medicine are always like "but yeah you're gonna make a bunch of money as an attending", like okay??? But I'm broke now and being a grown adult who can't do many activities with his friends because he's broke sucks alot.

When you lied on your resume but still got the job.

Nobody ever tells or prepares you for the transition in medicine of being from low-middle class to later being almost entirely surrounded by ppl that come from generation wealth for the rest of your life. Not inherently bad but an interesting transition to navigate.

Psychiatry is a container for some of the darkest aspects of humanity. People with severe intellectual disabilities abandoned by tired care takers. The homeless who cope with life’s horrors with drugs. Here, the pathology does not lie in the patient’s brain—but in society.

I know it's super problematic that 555 EM slots went unfilled, and sincere condolences to anyone who went unmatched, but 24 new for-profit EM residencies since 2016 hoping to profit off underpaid resident labor kind of feels like a big part of the problem
