Excellent practice last night thanks to reinforcements from @PutneyBells and elsewhere. All 10 ringing at practice for the 1st time in ages, plus Stedman, St Simons and Grandsire practice.

@ASFBells If anything I’m thinking of Instagram as being the place to share photos and videos of bellringing with a similar use of hashtags and location tags for posts to be found. It’s kind of on my to do list with no definite date…

No practice at home tower so we took a couple over to East Hagbourne for the Branch Practice. We rang PH7, PH8, PB8, LB8, G7, S7, Ashford 7 and tried to finish with St Clements CB8. Great practice with some locals getting help & others ringing things they needed #bellringing 🔔

We welcomed our new vicar at @AllSaintsFulham, Rev Peter Dobson, this evening with a quarter of Grandsire Doubles, then general ringing on all 10 bells (first time we’ve rung all 10 for a while, & it’s such a great sound).

Another good practice last night. Learners Carol and Niyi making excellent progress, and a visitor from Canada made all the difference to our upping our Stedman game.

Last week we had an informal tea party to say goodbye to former Tower Captain Eddie as he prepares to move to Brighton. Eddie was instrumental in reviving our band in the early 00s and has been a mentor, inspiration & friend to many ringers in the SW London area

@Londonringing We have thick walls but it’s still hot. Last week I was about to ask if we could open a window but then realised that all the windows were open, and there was just no air!

The #bellringing practice I’m at this evening has chosen to stop for Pimms part way as a concession to the summer evening! Luckily some ringing rooms are cooler than outside with thick stone walls (but those with big windows can get rather warm).

Great practice tonight. Built on our Stedman Doubles & even managed a simple touch (once tweeter was moved to the tenor!). Also some intense dodging practice for one of our learners. All helped a lot by Paula from @PutneyBells. And we had a lovely US visitor from Northampton MA🙂

Unfortunately several of our ringers are away or otherwise unavailable so there will be no service ringing tomorrow (Sunday 7 July) and no practice on Monday 8 July.
