There are two kinds is socialists. Idiots who think it can work, and the sociopaths who take advantage of idiots.
Lifetime average American earnings are $2.5 million.
The $15 billion of state spending on the California high speed rail destroyed the full life time productive output of 6000 people. It’s as if the California government bulldozed 6000 homes that all these people spent a lifetime of improving.
A founder that starts a company that is worth $15 billion, didn’t spend this money yet. It’s still capital. The shares are future earnings. There is no $15 billion in cash that can be spent. If the founder succeeds at managing the company, it’s projected to generate as much profit as 6000 people‘s lifetime of work, all risks considered.

"Capitalism created the possibility of the win win win. It used to be a zero sum game where somebody won, somebody else lost.
The biggest mistake people make, intellectuals in particular, they still think we're in a zero sum world. They're obsessed with some billionaires because Bernie Sanders thinks that Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk somehow stole the money from the people.
They don't understand that it's this prosperity machine that's creating more, not just for those billionaires, but for everything that they're touching. They're creating value for their customers, they're creating value for their employees. Their suppliers are flourishing, their investors are seeing their capital go up. It can be reinvested and compound.
All philanthropy ultimately comes from business. That's where the profits are.
Where does all the taxes come from? It ultimately comes from business as well.
This is the engine that's lifting humanity out. The entrepreneurs are the drivers of that engine. Somebody like Elon Musk, he gets a very, very, very tiny sliver of the value that he creates for the whole world."

You can often predict a company's course if their announcements talk more about how much investment they got than their product If I'd raise $50M maybe I'd not even tweet it? Just use it to improve the product and get more users and talk about that Having $$$ in the bank tells me absolutely nothing about why I should use your product, it's not my money, it's your money, it benefits me as a customer exactly zero If you post some really cool new feature you build, that makes me want to sign up and become a customer though
