Great to be in the Shire with the outstanding Member for Cook, Simon Kennedy. We visited Playground Cafe & Bar in Woolooware, a fantastic local business, and spoke with owner Nick about how things are going and how government can better support small businesses like his to thrive. When small businesses succeed, Australia succeeds and we’re committed to backing people like Nick.

Labor has been asleep at the wheel. Now, after drifting through a national crisis, they’re scrambling to convene National Cabinet to try and clean up the mess. Meanwhile, the Ampol refinery in Brisbane is producing fuel right here in Australia… but Labor’s emissions obsession is forcing it offshore. We’re exporting our own energy security while Australians can’t get the fuel they need.

Another rate rise and another excuse from the Treasurer. Labor's reckless spending has fueled inflation and it's everyday Australians paying the price on their mortgage and at the checkout. We deserve better.

What an incredible visit to Meals on Wheels in Griffith with Raissa Butkowski! The volunteers and staff here do such meaningful work, delivering not just meals, but connection and care to those who need it most. So grateful for everything they do for the community.

Inflation and interest rates were going up well before the Iran conflict. After 4 years, the Albanese Labor government will not take responsibility for its actions. It's time for Labor to stop blaming others and find a solution to help hard working Australians get ahead.

Another interest rate rise Labor has no clue and no plan. Today’s rate rise is the direct result of Labor’s record spending, which has kept inflation higher for longer.

Yesterday everything was fine, but today the Government can’t guarantee we won’t run out of fuel. #auspol

Labor’s mismanagement of fuel security and the economy is driving up inflation and hitting Australians’ cost of living hard. #auspol

This afternoon David Littleproud advised he would stand down as leader of the Nationals. I respect the decision he has made and thank him for his leadership since 2022 and his strong commitment to regional and rural Australians. David has always been a committed coalitionist who understands the importance of the partnership between the Liberals and Nationals. I know he’ll continue to serve the people of Maranoa with the same dedication. All the best to David, Amelia and their family, and I look forward to sharing another beer with him soon. 🍻

A powerful image can sometimes capture the truth of an era. For decades, images from Iran have shown a regime that tightly controls the lives of women. An evil regime that dictates to women what they wear, how they live and what freedoms they are allowed under the rule of the Islamic Republic. Women are forced to cover their hair and bodies. They face lashings, beatings or imprisonment for defying morality laws. In legal terms, they are treated as worth half the value of men. Many cannot travel without a man’s permission. But this week, another image emerged. One that deserves to be remembered. At the opening match of the AFC Women's Asian Cup, the Iran women's national football team stood together as the national anthem played. Forced to compete wearing headscarves, long sleeves and long pants, these athletes used the only tool available to them to defy their oppressors. They stood united in silence. Iranian women have never stopped fighting. In Farsi, women are often called sheer-zan — lionesses. Even symbolic acts of dissent can carry life-or-death consequences. State media has called them “traitors” and warned they will face the most extreme penalties. Yet these players chose to make their stand in the one moment they knew the world would be watching. It is an image that captures the spirit of resistance: quiet, fearless and impossible to ignore. On International Women's Day, we celebrate the achievements of women in Australia, but also around the world. I want to pay tribute to the lionesses of Iran, women who risk everything simply to live free. Their courage is a powerful reminder that the struggle for real, genuine freedom is far from over. May the Iranian women’s team be safe. May they soon have the freedom to shape their country’s future. #InternationalWomensDay

No matter where I go, Australians tell me they have two major concerns for our country: the ever-rising cost of living and immigration levels, particularly when new arrivals do not share our values. We hear you, we know this government is letting Australians down, and we will continue to hold their feet to the fire. These issues are too important to ignore and it is only through addressing them that we can all enjoy a brighter future.

Great to reconnect with Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada on his visit to Australia. We first met in 1991 as economics students at Oxford. Life has taken us in different political directions, but it’s always a pleasure to welcome our closest friends to Australian shores. Canada and Australia share more than a friendship, we share values, history, and an unshakeable commitment to each other’s prosperity. 🇨🇦🤝🇦🇺 📸 Belle Hogg, Auspic

Under Labor, Australia is the only advanced economy where living standards have gone backwards. After four years of Australians going backwards, when will the Prime Minister finally accept the buck stops with him?

Labor has promised Australians a lot and delivered very little. Inflation and high interest rates have beaten this Treasurer and this government.
