First impressions: Onimusha feels so damn good to play. They gave so many ways you can approach combat such as parrying, deflecting, perfect dodges, etc. It all blends together really well

@scoobernetic @LuLuTheGoth It was written by Alanah Pearce. Apparently writing a few IGN reviews is enough to convince a massive studio they have the writing chops for a videogame script.

@LuLuTheGoth The comic relief writing in a GoW game was absolutely fucking diabolical. There is no way anyone who wrote this script has ever played any of the games in the franchise.

I'll be honest I think this game is going to fall flat, I totally face palmed when I saw it. I don't think this landed as hard as they wanted it to. The 'ILL' game though. That looks like a day one for me.

@P_AllensProfile The enemy AI is laughable. I didn't get hit once in this fight and I think the enemies only attacked like twice.

Leashing is so bad that they won't attack you once you're on the stairway lmao

I just wish Sony would go back to their Japanese roots a bit. Too many games feel like movies now and I think that’s why I don’t vibe with new stuff anymore

@Nixius_Maximus Darkwood did the one auto save file and it worked great. You lose a lot of daylight running back to where you died to collect your pack, but you also lose some of what you collected, so there's a real drawback to failure. Also, dying at night has you lose currency.

@AnxiousNeck that would be interesting - you gotta have that risk to actually add to the horror , yeah the monster / zombie on the screen is scary but the actual FEAR of dying because of the stakes adds to that adrenaline naturally , like you said before the risk

Forcing players to shimmy along and through shit needs to die. It's one of the most annoying game design trends. I'd rather have a load screen than shimmy through things. Bonus, stop making fake stealth sections where you chuck bottles to distract enemies as well. #StateofPlay

@Nixius_Maximus That's pretty funny. Yeah, horror has a problem with forcing the player to commit. I often wonder if games like Resident Evil would be better if you couldn't pause like a Souls game and you only got one auto save file.

@Nixius_Maximus Yeah. Stealth horror is only good when the stealth is brutally challenging. Otherwise it might as well be a walking sim.

@AnxiousNeck I swear to god I just realized I had that game tonight and was about to boot it up , that was good , reminds me of alien isolation , stealth horror needs to be more like those two

@Nixius_Maximus Yep. Agree. Options are great. Risk reward, etc. But when I see this in games I always groan because it makes the whole thing feel so basic.

@AnxiousNeck Or atleast make it like alien isolation where the “bottle” is a rare item and I gotta choose when to use it - and then maybe waste it - making me pissed I used it - that’s good - that’s emotion

@Nixius_Maximus It's fine if the bottle thing is in the game, but give me options. Don't make it a linear route where tossing a bottle is just telling the enemy to go away. Amnesia the Bunker did stealth horror best.

@YorchTorchGames Naw. Console gaming died with the current gen. Only a few games like BG3, KCD2, and FF7 Rebirth feel like they justified my purchase. Pretty much everything else I could go without.
