As Rajasthan’s newest tiger reserve, RVTR faces growing challenges in safeguarding its fragile ecosystem. The addition of this vehicle will enhance on-ground response capabilities ensuring timely assistance to injured or displaced wildlife, curbing illegal grazing activities, and strengthening overall habitat protection efforts for species like tigers and leopards. This step reflects our shared intent to empower forest frontline staff with the resources they need to protect India’s rich biodiversity. Astral Foundation, in collaboration with Earth Focus Foundation, is supporting children from tribal communities in the Kanha region of Madhya Pradesh. This year, 130 children are part of the Anand Ghar program, where they build basic skills in reading, writing, and math. In the evenings, Anandghars become spaces for children to enjoy learning through local art, science activities, games, and cultural stories. The English Language and Library programs are also helping children discover the joy of reading and learning in new ways. As part of this effort, the Mariyam Self-Help Group in Gadchiroli recently completed a honey processing and packaging training at the Community Development Centre. With guidance from the CBeeD team, they learned key skills in honey procurement, processing, and packaging to align with market requirements. This initiative is aimed at helping tribal communities build sustainable livelihood opportunities while preserving their natural resources. By providing training and support, we hope to encourage self-reliance and economic stability. Astral Foundation’s ‘Daughters of Piplantri’ campaign has touched many hearts and inspired countless people across the nation. Continuing this noble mission, we decided last year to adopt a village near Ahmedabad to support both the cause of saving the girl child and protecting our environment. We adopted the village of Vasna Keliya and committed to planting 111 trees for every girl child born there. Today, on National Girl Child Day, we are proud to share that we have planted 888 trees in the village under this initiative. With the support of the villagers, we have not only planted these trees but also have started to nurture them together. This initiative has brought about a positive impact by supporting the importance of saving girl children while also contributing to a greener environment. Astral Foundation, in collaboration with the ICDS department of the Government of Gujarat, initiated Nand Ghar Project, an activity aimed at renovating and upgrading anganwadis in remote villages of Gujarat. As part of this project, Astral Foundation has successfully helped renovate and upgrade four anganwadis in the villages of Santej, Vasna Keliya, Khatripur, and Aambethi.​ This effort focuses on improving the conditions for young children in these communities by providing them with a safer, more hygienic environment for early education. Astral Foundation supported an initiative towards sustainability at Sundarvan Nature Discovery Centre by installing a 25 kW Grid-Connected Roof Top Solar System. This aligns with our commitment to supporting projects that positively impact both the environment and the community. Since its installation, the solar system has generated approximately 52,500 kWh of electricity from May to August 2024, resulting in a substantial reduction in carbon emissions—equivalent to about 44.62 metric tons of CO2. The benefits extend beyond just environmental impact; Sundarvan has seen a significant decrease in electricity costs, estimated at 65% to 75%. These savings are being reinvested into nature conservation and educational activities, further enhancing the positive outcomes of this project. Moreover, the solar panels provide essential shade for six bird enclosures, helping protect the animals from the harsh summer heat. This demonstrates the multifaceted value of sustainable innovation, combining environmental benefits with enhanced animal welfare. Astral Foundation has contributed towards the installation of a composting machine at Sabarmati Jail. This machine will help convert food waste from the prison and garden waste, such as leaves, into useful compost.
