Mario Kart Wii for Wii was released on this day in Europe, 18 years ago (2008)

In Mario Kart Wii, the Thunder Cloud item can be passed off to other players. While this appears to be able to go on forever, there is actually an internal limit to this. After being passed around 255 times, the cloud will have had enough and strike the last player to receive it.

The game doesn't seem to give you "invincibility frames" when correctly dodging the item using a Mushroom ("invincibility" as in being totally immune to damage). Rather, it appears to make it explode early, or at a slightly longer distance behind the player than normal.

Because they're considered at being in the normal state when the bug occurs, their SFX will play again, since the game only checks if they're in the "normal" state before playing their SFX. (4/5)

In Mario Kart Wii, if a POW is used and the Pokeys die (e.g., by Lightning) just before the POW strikes, they won’t respawn on their own. The only way to bring them back is to use another Lightning. A few other side effects will also occur, as shown below. (1/5)
