Labour knew these changes would hit pubs, hotels and cafes - and pushed ahead anyway. Now they pretend they didn't understand the consequences.
Over 2,000 hospitality venues at risk - with business rates UP by 115% for some businesses over the next few years. And Labour still dithers.
Temporary fixes won't save our high streets - only permanent business rate cuts will.
A future @Conservatives government will cut business rates for thousands and back our high streets.

** My analysis on the Conservative party conference **
Finally after a year of waiting, Kemi Badenoch has given her party a slate of policies to make the case for the Conservatives.
It was the best speech by a Tory leader I have heard for years. Nigel Farage and Reform UK were mentioned just once as she sought to concentrate on setting her stall for her party.
Her supporters in the hall loved it and left the party's conference with a spring in their step, helped in part by her conviction and confident delivery.
The real battle is outside. The new policies on stamp duty, ECHR, policing and net zero will win her support among those who are paying attention.
But the rest of the electorate might shrug their shoulders and ask why the Tories didn't introduce these measures during their 14 years in power? And how they can be trusted to do so if they win the next election?
This question of trust remains unanswered by the Tories. But for the first time since Labour's landslide at general election in July last year, the Conservative party is back in the hunt for voters. And that for them is a start. More coverage and analysis on @GBNEWS.
