Today, I continued to chair the screening exercise for serving Governors seeking reelection, alongside Governors aspiring for Senate seats, as part of our party’s preparations ahead of the forthcoming primary elections. The exercise was conducted in an atmosphere of unity, transparency, and commitment to the democratic values of our great party, the All Progressives Congress. We successfully screened more aspirants today and will continue with the process as scheduled. As a party, we remain focused on strengthening internal democracy, ensuring credibility in our processes, and building a stronger APC that continues to inspire confidence among Nigerians.

Earlier today, I led the National Working Committee of our great party to receive the Expression of Interest and Nomination Form of our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), at a well-attended ceremony at the International Conference Centre in Abuja. The occasion was witnessed by governors, leaders and members of the National Assembly, party elders, and other critical stakeholders across the country. The massive turnout and overwhelming show of solidarity further reaffirm the confidence Nigerians and party faithful have in the Renewed Hope Agenda and the purposeful leadership of President Tinubu. It was not just a ceremonial event, but a strong demonstration of unity, continuity, and collective resolve to consolidate on the gains already being recorded under his administration. As a party, we remain committed to deepening internal democracy, strengthening national cohesion, and supporting policies and programmes that will continue to reposition our nation for sustainable growth and prosperity. Together, we move forward with renewed confidence and greater determination for a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.

WORKERS’ DAY MESSAGE – MAY 1, 2026 Today, as we commemorate Workers’ Day, I extend my warmest felicitations to all Nigerian workers across the public and private sectors, men and women whose daily sacrifices, commitment, and patriotism continue to sustain the engine of our nation’s growth and development. This day is a fitting moment to recognize and deeply appreciate your resilience, perseverance, and understanding, especially in the face of evolving economic realities. Your steadfast dedication, even in challenging times, reflects the true Nigerian spirit, strong, hopeful, and forward-looking. Nigeria stands today because of your labour, your discipline, and your unwavering belief in a better tomorrow. As we celebrate you, I wish to reaffirm that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains firmly committed to the welfare, dignity, and prosperity of Nigerian workers. This is a worker-friendly administration that understands that no meaningful national development can take place without prioritizing the wellbeing of its workforce. The ongoing economic reforms, though demanding, are necessary steps toward building a more stable, productive, and inclusive economy. These reforms are not ends in themselves, but strategic pathways to long-term national prosperity. Key initiatives such as the removal of fuel subsidy, the unification of the foreign exchange system, increased investments in infrastructure, expansion of social safety nets, and renewed focus on industrialization are all geared toward correcting structural imbalances and laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth. These measures are designed to stimulate productivity, attract investment, create jobs, and ultimately improve the quality of life for all Nigerians, especially workers. While the transition may come with temporary challenges, there is a clear and unwavering commitment to ensuring that the benefits of these reforms will be widely shared and deeply felt. Let me assure you that your sacrifices are not in vain. The government remains attentive to your concerns and is working tirelessly to cushion the impact of reforms while opening up new opportunities for prosperity and advancement. As we mark this year’s Workers’ Day, I encourage all workers to remain hopeful, steadfast, and united in purpose. Together, we will build a stronger, more resilient Nigeria where hard work is rewarded, and every citizen has a fair chance to succeed. I wish all Nigerian workers a peaceful and fulfilling Workers’ Day celebration. May your efforts continue to yield progress, dignity, and prosperity for yourselves, your families, and our great nation. Happy Workers’ Day!

Earlier today, I attended the 38th General Church Council (GCC) Choir Sing-Song Service of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) held in Nyanya, Karu, where I expressed my deep joy at being part of such a spiritually uplifting gathering and commended the choir for their unwavering dedication and powerful ministry through music. It was more than a service, it was a profound reminder of the unifying power of worship. The harmony, discipline, and passion displayed by the choir reflect the very essence of what the music ministry represents: a bridge that connects hearts, strengthens faith, and binds the community together in one voice of praise. In moments like this, one is reminded that beyond sermons, music speaks directly to the soul, inspiring hope, healing, and renewed commitment to God. I particularly applauded the consistency and vision of the organizers for sustaining this remarkable tradition over the years. The GCC Choir Sing-Song Service has grown into a beacon of spiritual excellence and communal fellowship, an enduring platform that continues to nurture talents, deepen worship, and unite believers across different walks of life. In further demonstration of my belief in the transformative power of faith-based initiatives, I pledged to support the choir’s ongoing project to ensure it is completed as scheduled. This gesture underscores a shared commitment to strengthening institutions that promote spiritual growth, social cohesion, and community development. Indeed, when we invest in platforms that uplift the spirit, we are ultimately investing in a stronger, more united society.

BLOOD OF HEROES, STRENGTH OF A NATION It is with great shock that I received the news of the Boko Haram attack on the Nigerian military that culminated in the loss of the brave soldiers of the 29 Task Force Brigade, Operation HADIN KAI, who died in a coordinated terrorist assault on their camp in Benisheikh, Borno State. My heart is heavy with grief. These were not just soldiers, they were fathers, sons, brothers, and patriots who stood on the frontlines so that millions of Nigerians could sleep in peace. Their courage, their sacrifice, and their unwavering commitment to the unity and security of our nation will forever be etched in our collective memory. I extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the Nigerian military and to the families of these fallen heroes. In this moment of unspeakable pain, I urge you to take heart. Though words may fail us, we must find strength in the noble lives they lived and the ultimate price they paid for the survival of our nation. May God grant you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. The Defence Headquarters has confirmed this tragic incident, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday, April 9, 2026. I join millions of Nigerians in mourning as I honour the memory of these gallant soldiers, led by Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of our sovereignty. Let it be said clearly and without hesitation: their sacrifices will not be in vain. The blood of our heroes cries out not for despair, but for renewed resolve. Because of their bravery, our determination as a nation to defeat terrorism and restore lasting peace is stronger than ever. I also wish to reassure all Nigerians that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is fully committed and actively working to ensure that Nigeria remains stable and secure. This tragic incident, while deeply painful, does not define us, it strengthens our unity and sharpens our collective resolve to overcome every threat to our nationhood. Our armed forces continue to receive the necessary support, resources, and strategic direction to prosecute the fight against insurgency decisively. In this solemn moment, I pray that Almighty God comforts the bereaved families and grants eternal rest to the souls of the departed heroes. May He strengthen and protect our troops still on the frontlines, watching over them as they defend our land with honour. I pray for the wisdom, strength, and resilience of the president as he leads the nation through these challenging times. May God also grant guidance and fortitude to Governor Babagana Zulum as he continues to steer Borno State through the complexities of security and rebuilding. And to all Nigerians, may God unite us in purpose, heal our land, and grant us lasting peace. May the souls of our fallen heroes rest in perfect peace. 🇳🇬
