Every Catholic I know in real life understands these teachings as truths. What I get on X from the anonymous Catholics is that there hasn’t been a legitimate Pope in 1000 years and the Catholic Church is apostate and these teachings are to be ignored. Many leaders with these opinions have been excommunicated or say they are self-excommunicated - so why do thus still call themselves Catholics? As I have already stated; Catholic teaching, including Vatican II, directly counters anti-Israel stances like Carrie Prejean's that delegitimize the State of Israel, call it genocidal, or frame opposition to it as non-antisemitic while rejecting Zionism outright. All positions that often veer into bigotry or born from it. Vatican II's Nostra Aetate (1965), section 4, condemns antisemitism unequivocally, "the Church... decries hatred, persecutions, displays of anti-Semitism, directed against Jews at any time and by anyone." It rejects portraying Jews as rejected or accursed by God and affirms the shared spiritual patrimony between Christians and Jews. Prejean's claims misalign with all this binding Magisterium. The Catholic Church demands rejection of hatred in all forms, truth, and reconciliation with our Jewish elder brothers. What evidence do you have that the Catholic Church has changed its teachings and positioning with Israel or Jews since these were posited?

First of all , pastoral council. 2nd of all, what came since VII is an abmonition of the faith. If by “separation of church and state” you mean it the way it was used by Thomas Jefferson (the only mention of the phrase in any of our founding documents) meaning that the govt will not prohibit worship, then yes.
If by “separation of church and state” you are ignoring Federalist Paper 51 in which James Madison and Alexander Hamilton define the purpose of a civil society as pursuing “justice” as defined by the Edmund Burkean idea that true liberty is not license but rather ordered towards something greater (aka God’s justice or natural law), then you fundamentally misunderstand that our nation was founded not to be secular but to be a Christian nation that acknowledges the Natural Law of God in our laws.

If we’re going to gatekeep in the conservative movement, the number one question that should be on the questionnaire is do you believe in the separation of church and state? Do you believe in the first amendment? If the answer to that question is no then you’re not a conservative. It’s really that simple all of this other stuff is meant to obfuscate from that one basic question. So at the end of the day that is the line for the gatekeeping, do you believe that everybody in this country should be free to worship according to their faith. If that becomes a radical idea on the conservative right, then we already lost.
