Thanks to @MichaelCRalph and Laurence Woodruff for having me on their podcast! I've talked about teacher shortage stuff a lot recently, but I really appreciated the extended format here. And they had some of the best questions I've gotten. twopintplc.com/podcast-episod…

To address the lack of diversity in K-16 computer science education, ECEP focuses on state level systems change. Today @Google announced an investment of $3 million over 3 years that will allow us to add 5 states & expand our ability to measure impact. bit.ly/ecepfunding

Thread on a new @AnnenbergInst WP from @edu_tuan, Chanh Lam, and me. It's on an obscure topic you may not have heard of: "teacher shortages". Is there a national teacher shortage? A systematic examination of reports of teacher shortages in the U.S. edworkingpapers.com/ai22-631
Tuan D. Nguyen, @edutuan.bsky.social@edu_tuan

Is there a national teacher shortage? In this working paper with Chanh Lam, @Paul_Bruno, and I systematically examine news reports, department of education data, and publicly-available information on teacher shortages for every state in the U.S.

The workshop content I created to help people learn how to respond to microaggressions has caused harm. I’m sorry. People have found these workshops helpful, but I first need to avoid causing harm. I will stop leading these workshops; I have more learning to do first.

Sometimes students figure out other ways to solve problems that are easier for them to understand. This can help you as a teacher when other students may need a different way to understand the problem. Solving a problem doesn't necessarily need to be done the same all the time!
