Patrick Forbes (@LouisvilleBSB) is set up for a breakthrough junior campaign with the Cardinals this spring. The former two-way player showed dominance on the mound in the CCBL with 22 Ks in 13.2 IP (14.5 K/9) for the Whitecaps. At 6-3, 215 lbs, Forbes has an athletic build with a solid foundation to build off. The FB is clearly a plus offering; sitting mid-90s and touching 97/98 on occasion. The command is there but can the control can get erratic deeper into starts. The first clip shows Forbes in his first start this summer, overpowering Wehiwa Aloy with his elite carry FB in the zone. He threw it 71% of the time this past summer and generated 41% miss. His second pitch is a SL (24% usage) that sat 79-81. It's an average offering with decent depth and plays well off the heater. He showed the ability to throw it for strikes as well (67%), making hitters stay honest and off the FB. The third pitch wasn't thrown as much as I would've liked to see this summer (3% usage). It's a high-80s changeup (that topped 90) with some solid horizontal movement (3rd clip) and often got hitters out on their front leg. It worked well down in the lower half and got some chase out of the zone too. For now, it's a below average pitch but could improve with more conviction. The last clip shows Forbes' hip drive down the mound. He was one of the best pitchers on the Cape at generating power by sitting into the back leg and getting downhill. In the video, as soon as the front leg lifts, the body gets going laterally. It's a strong back leg post that allows Forbes to optimize stability while getting the most out of his velo. With the further development of his secondary pitches, I could see Forbes being a mid-rotational starter at the big league level. Depending on how his spring goes as a weekend starter, he has Day 1 upside in the '25 draft.

Gabe Davis (@OSUBaseball) was one of the most exciting arms this summer during his brief stint on the Cape. The 6-9, 225-pound flamethrower sat mid-high 90s on his FB and occasionally hit triple digits from a 3/4 slot. He commanded the pitch well this summer and overpowered some of the best hitters in the CCBL. He gets elite extension and uses his long levers and solid hip/shoulder separation to get the most out of his pitch mix. He rides the back leg well and mechanically it's pretty smooth for such a large frame (shown in last clip). The first pitch below is a tight SL with gyro action that he throws in the mid to high-80s to get Kyle Lodise looking. It can be a wipeout pitch at the next level. While control was and still may be the biggest concern, Davis showed a good feel for it and flashes plus potential. The second pitch is a CH that showed good sink and played extremely well off his heater. It gets Ike Irish to whiff pretty bad on a 3-2 count. Another pitch that he can rely on against LHH. It could be an above average offering should the control/command continue to improve. The third pitch is his plus-FB that gets John Bay looking. While in this particular example the ball could have been slightly off the plate, Davis proved to have the best command of his heater. He'll continue to generate plenty of whiff and high chase next spring and eventually at the pro ranks. Despite being tagged for 4 H & 3 ER in 3.1 IP, 9 of his 10 retired batters were by the way of the K while only walking 1. His FB/SL combo does seem relieverish but the more he can polish the CH the more likely he could start professionally. There's immense upside and could flirt with top 2-round draft consideration in 2025 depending on how he does this spring.

Jake Clemente (@GatorsBB) will be one of the top SEC arms in the country next season. Clemente showed plenty of promise in his redshirt freshman season last spring at Florida, striking out 39 in 28.2 IP in 19 APP, mainly in relief. Similar results this past summer on the Cape, striking out 29 in 27.2 IP (6 starts). Going forward, Clemente should be a mainstay in the Gators' rotation with weekend starter upside. It's a smooth and repeatable delivery with a solid rhythm and good hip/shoulder separation as he strides down the mound. A low to mid-90s FB (avg 92, T96) with tremendous carry that generates plenty of swing and miss. Willingness to attack some of the best hitters on the Cape with the FB (shown below against Ethan Petry and Gavin Gallagher) and threw it with confidence. His second pitch is a SL that sits in the low to mid-80s with good two-plane break. It was effective on the Cape (32% chase) and generated some ugly swings (below vs RJ Austin) and weak contact when put in play. His third pitch is a mid-80s CH that lacks command and conviction. Although it's a work in progress, if he can get it down in and out of the zone it could play well off the FB. While used sparingly as a distant 3rd offering, at times it helped hitters stay off the FB that he threw 71% of the time for Brewster. The last pitch shown below, is the CH which at times showed decent shape but didn't get much miss (14%). Clemente was undeniably one of the best arms on the Cape, and limited hitters to a .165 BAA that ranked 4th among qualified pitchers. If he further develops his pitch mix, he will be an intriguing name to watch and potential riser in the early-middle rounds of the '25 draft.

Andrew Fischer (@Vol_Baseball) transferred from Ole Miss and will provide an immediate threat in the top half of a potent Vol lineup. He stands loose in the box with his hands starting high. It's a quick trigger and generates a lot of bat speed through the zone. His hands are quick to the ball and his violent hip rotation allows him to tap into his plus raw power with consistent hard contact (90th percentile EV at 106.8 mph last spring, per @Data_prospects) Fischer flashed a .231 ISO, which was 2nd among among qualified Whitecaps (Helfrick, .253), before exiting the summer circuit. He finished with a .394 xwOBA (min. 30 BIP, per @gabe_appelbaum). Fischer is also a very patient hitter and makes good swing decisions with solid plate discipline. He owned a 13.9 BB% at Duke and Ole Miss his first two seasons and walked more than he K'd on the Cape (14 BB/9 K) in 82 PA. There are some occasional swing & miss concerns in the zone but had only a 12% chase rate this summer. He excelled at making loud outs, mostly in the RCF gap; displaying massive pull side power. He's a solid athlete but is a fringe runner at best. Still in search of a defensive home, Fischer was primarily a DH in Oxford but got looks at 2B and 3B this summer on the Cape. It's an average arm that could play up the middle despite limited range. I think he'll get some opportunity at 3B this spring but more likely slots into 2B at the pro level. As it now stands, Fischer's offensive makeup makes him a late-1st/early-2nd round pick. If he can prove to play an average infield this spring, I could see a team jump on him in the mid-1st come next July as a 25+ HR bat. There is some Max Muncy to his game.

Brody Donay (@GatorsBB) may have had the most raw power out of anyone on the Cape this summer. The rising junior flashed a couple of plus tools for the Whitecaps and sat firmly in the middle of a potent Brewster lineup. It's easily plus power for the 6-foot-5, 235-pound righty who hit 6 HR this past summer, and had 4 HR for the Harbor Hawks in '23. It's power over contact and there's 30+ HR potential in the bigs. He owned one of the hardest and furthest hit balls this summer (110.4 EV, 441 ft; per @TrackManBB). In the 1st clip, Donay sports a wider stance in the box and utilizes a powerful load to transfer his weight onto his back leg and explodes through the zone for a HR. It's a relatively simple operation and his violent hack helps him make consistent hard contact (.227 ISO this summer). In the 2nd clip, Donay opts for a slightly narrower open stance and the bat head starts more vertical to the ground. He follows it up with a leg kick and looks more athletic in his load with plenty of power still saved up while keeping his head on plane. He stays back on the breaking ball and hits it to the left side. These swings are roughly 2.5 weeks apart. The 2nd swing helps him stay more on time and adjust to spin and off-speed. He's quicker to the ball and can still find the barrel while finding success. I think getting to that approach in the 2nd swing could help him put up more competitive at-bats and get to more contact. There are a few concerns that stand out, however. There is a lot of swing and miss in his game (41% on the Cape), mostly against heaters (44%) - since his hands get so low - he struggles to adjust to ball up in/out of the zone. There were also numerous 3-pitch ABs, where he'd get caught out on his front foot w/ the pitcher tripling up on breakers and getting him to chase (40% chase vs SL). He had a 38.9 K% at Florida and 36.3 K% in 2 summers on the Cape (231 PA). As I alluded to earlier, it's plus power (++ raw power) and a plus arm which can play behind the dish or in RF. He's a below average runner but his long strides help him cover ground. He was named a Cape League All-Star starter at 1B and may be limited to that position at the pro level. The plus tools alone should see him as an early-mid Day 2 pick in the '25 Draft, especially if he can fix some of the holes in his swing.

Drew Faurot (@FSUBaseball) was one of the more underrated players in the CCBL this summer. The Seminole will likely start up the middle next spring after slashing .263/.342/.414 in 28 games with a wood bat in Brewster. The switch-hitting middle infielder has a similar stance as a LHH and RHH and shows a high leg kick upon load. It's a violent hack through the zone with exceptional bat speed and was able to show decent pull-side pop from both sides with 6 2B & 3 HR this summer. Faurot was third among qualified SS in hits (26), OPS (.756) and second in HR (3) and SLG% (.414). He looked smooth defensively and showed the ability to play SS or 2B after splitting time at both spots on the Cape. Solid range with average speed and a fringe arm at SS/2B but can get the ball out of his glove quickly. He should stick at either position at the pro level. Pitch recognition could improve as he struggled at times with the slider and change, resulting in a 55% miss and 42% miss rate, respectively. He had a 30.3 K% on the Cape but has a career a 40.9 FB% in college. Would also like to see some more line drives via hard hit balls after having a below average 42.6 GB% while at school. His second Cape stint showed that improvement is coming. Faurot's hard work ethic stands out. He's always watching film, taking hacks, fielding grounders - looking to improve in all aspects of his game. He's going to be an early Day 2 draft prospect in '25 with projectable power and versatility both offensively and defensively.

Darien Smith (@SEUFireBaseball) may be one of the best unsigned arms still on the board following the MLB Draft. He had good command of his 4SFB (up to 15.9 iVB) that averaged 92.7 mph (T95) and mixed in a sinker that could run under the hands of RHH with up to 18.8 in HZ break (per @TrackManBB). There was good feel with his tight SL (avg 82.7, ~2500 rpm) which was used to attack hitters and induce GB's. His sweeper played more as a chase pitch out of the zone (29% usage combined). The circle CH (avg 83.9) might have been the most effective put-out pitch in his start on 7/30. It had a CSW% of 28.6% at 11.3% usage. It generated 100% whiff and had solid fade down and away against LHH. The NAIA standout won Pitcher of the Year last spring at Southeastern, putting up video game numbers in 2 seasons; 22-2, 182 IP, 2.37 ERA, 257 K, 58 BB.

Will Ray (@WakeBaseball) was one of the most dominant relievers on the Cape this summer. The former two-way showcased a high 80s - low 90s sinker from a sidearm slot with plenty of run and a sweeping slider that limited hitters to an average of 68.2 mph EV and a 0.59 xFIP (per @anthony_mar7 as of 7/19). It's a plus pitch that was used more than the sinker and acts as his best offering. He also mixed in a splitter with some sink to get miss in and out of the zone. He appeared in 14 games for the Whitecaps on the Cape, limiting hard contact and base-runners with a 1.18 WHIP, 23 K/2 BB in 22 IP. Ray's stuff played well in the lower half of the zone but was susceptible to the long ball at times. Perhaps adding a four-seam FB that could get some chase at the top of the zone could help his overall profile. As of 7/23, Ray was 100th percentile in hard-hit % and 93rd percentile in opponent average exit speed (per @anthony_mar7). Ray made significant progress in his control and as a result, dropped his 4.9 BB/9 in 44 IP last spring to just 0.8 BB/9 in 22 IP this summer in the CCBL. He was able to make some of the top offensive college bats look foolish (Kurland - sinker, Burress - slider, Martinez - splitter; shown below).

Daniel Cuvet (@CanesBaseball) will be one of the more exciting names for the 2026 Draft. There's immense raw power that effortlessly translates in-game as a plus tool. "Cuvie" stands fairly narrow at the dish and it's a simple operation with not many moving parts. He generates plenty of power with great hip rotation and a violent swing path through the ball. Although a below-average runner with a 6-foot-3, 237 pound frame, Cuvie makes good reads on the base paths. Defensively at 3B, it's an above average arm but sometimes over relies on it on routine throws to 1B. He fields the position well but the transfer skills could improve. He'd be an average defender at the hot corner but could ultimately move across the diamond. Cuvie possesses a high baseball IQ with a good feel for the game and an advanced approach at the plate. While there are some swing and miss concerns (35% in the CCBL), he walks at a 9.8% clip. His .520 SLG ranked third among qualified candidates on the Cape. Cuvet puts up gaudy EV numbers and as a result, possessed 2 of the top 5 HR distances on the Cape through 7/24 at 477.6 ft and 454.2 ft (via @TrackManBB/@bcanalytics_). Through 7/15, Cuvet owned an OPS+ of 206, .404 wOBA, and average EV of 90.1 mph and max EV of 107.8 (per @anthony_mar7). He has shown to hit for average his freshman season (.351) in the ACC and against the top pitching on the Cape (.314).

Nick Dumesnil - Hitting Adjustment 6/15-6/24 started 3-for-24 (.115 AVG), .179 OBP, .039 ISO, .333 OPS The hands started higher in his stance and had trouble catching up to velo on the inner half. Bat was late to the ball and swung under it. Granted a small sample size, our coaching staff did a great job making this simple adjustment shown in the 2nd pic. 6/28-7/8 went 11-for-29 (.379 AVG), .400 OBP, .242 ISO, 1.021 OPS. Hands start lower and he's able to get to the same spot in his load with better timing. It's a quicker time to contact (0.15 sec) and gets the hands inside the ball. Miss % on the inner half of the zone dropped 7% after the adjustment was made.

Ryder Helfrick (@RazorbackBSB) is an intriguing name to watch next season. Helfrick shows good athleticism behind the dish and avg to above average speed on the bases. It's a wide stance in the box and is a very level swing on plane to the ball. He mixes in a slight toe tap (first swing) and a higher leg kick (second swing) to keep some weight back and time his swing through the zone. In the first swing, Helfrick gets out in front of the ball and goes pull side for a HR. It's a pull heavy approach with 92.3% of his BIP on the left side of the field this summer on the Cape. In the second swing, Helfrick utilizes the high leg kick and stays upright to elevate his hands and reach the top of the zone on a 3-0 FB with a similar result. Gets out in front and does his damage pull side with noticeable pop. As toolsy as it gets for a primary catcher. There is some swing and miss concerns vs secondary's (43% miss vs SL, 62% miss vs CB) and will chase out of the zone occasionally. He had a 26.9 K% last spring. On the defensive side behind the plate, Helfrick was one of the best framers on the Cape. Through 8/2, he was 4th in the league in strikes called on balls outside of the zone with 74 (per @bcanalytics_). While it's an above average arm, the transfer skills could still improve with only 9% CS in 32 ATT this summer. If there isn't much improvement controlling the running game, Helfrick has seen time at 2B and CF in the past where his speed and arm can play at least average. He should still slot in as Arkansas' starting catcher in the spring. The Razorback sophomore should be one of the top catcher's selected off the board in 2026.

Nick Dumesnil (@CBUbaseball) has as much upside as anyone in the 2025 draft. With question marks early on about how he'd fare against the top arms in the country on the Cape, "Doomey" proved quickly as one of the best players in the summer league circuit. His hands start high with the bat coiled behind his head. While a somewhat unorthodox approach, he's able to get his bat head up and hands lowered upon loading. It's an explosive operation with elite bat speed, averaging as much as 79.9 mph in the CCBL (per @Blast_Bsbl). It's a consistent swing making hard contact and driving the ball to both gaps (led the CCBL with 12 2B). The quick hip hinge allows for a powerful on-time rotation through the ball as he barrels the ball at a high clip (up to 30.4% this summer per @JoeDoyleMiLB). Then there's the speed. Doomey set the Brewster Whitecap SB record with 26 (27 ATT) in 36 G. His 96.2% success rate is the highest in league history for someone with 20+ steals in a season (per @ccblstats). He gets good jumps on the base paths and good reads off the bat defensively. There is some swing and miss to his game. He walks at an average rate (8.6 BB% in the CCBL) and struck out just 12.9% of the time in the WAC but that went up to 21.7% this summer. There's some chase low out of the zone vs break and did way more damage vs LHP (.435/.469/.783; .348 ISO) than RHP (.247/.333/.337; .090 ISO). A true five-tool talent, Nick Dumesnil made a name for himself this summer on the Cape, and will soon be at the top of many teams' draft boards next July.

Nolan Schubart is a lock to be a first round pick in 2025. The Oklahoma State standout has a powerful load as he dips into his back leg. It's a violent swing with tremendous bat speed that allows him to barrel the ball at a high rate. The hands and hips are on time and his head remains steady through contact. Solid bat path and extends well through the ball resulting in gap to gap power. In 42 PA, he owned an OPS+ of 236 and wOBA of .528. and a max EV of 106 mph. 3 HR, 2 2B, 11 BB in 30 AB. He slashed .300/.476/.667 for the Whitecaps in the CCBL. Clearly plus power here with the hit tool not far behind. Below average speed and defense but the arm is there in LF. A move to 1B may limit his upside and is likely, but teams will buy his bat. The strikeouts are a little concerning (27.4% last spring) and there's still some swing and miss in the zone. He rarely chases and has solid plate discipline, resulting in a 21.7 BB% in his sophomore year. Schubart put together an impressive summer with Team USA and on the Cape. Before his summer ended, he was on pace for double digit home runs with the wood bat on the Cape. The offensive profile is legit.
