I just got further disturbing information about this mortuary called a hospital. They don’t have oxygen, no fatal monitoring machine for babies, no water, no fuel for caesarian section. The mortality rate is so high. So many babies and mothers have perished in this hospital.

I have spoken to Joy Ezeugwu extensively today. We will take this up legally and get to the end of it. I have also offered her a full scholarship to any school of nursing choice she wants within the country. We will do everything to protect the truth and save our society.

My flatmate travelled back to Nigeria during the Christmas period. The day he flew back, he didn’t tell me he was traveling, I got back and heard he traveled home, so I didn’t call him or chatted him up. This morning something happened in my house that really surprised me. I wanted to bath my little daughter because my wife was busy in the kitchen cooking. Just normal father duties, nothing serious. I carried my daughter and went to the bathroom. Suddenly my wife rushed out of the kitchen like there was an emergency. The way she ran, you would think someone shouted that a bomb was about to drop. She looked at me with very serious eyes and said I should stop immediately. According to her, I have no right to bath our female child and she had warned me about it before. She even said this would be the last warning and that I wouldn’t like what would happen if I tried it again. Honestly, I just stood there confused, looking like a complete fool because I have never heard of any law in Nigeria that says a father cannot bath his own daughter. Now I’m really wondering… Is there actually any rule or cultural belief that says a father shouldn’t bath his daughter? Or is this just something some families believe in? Because in my mind, taking care of your child boy or girl is part of being a parent. I’m genuinely asking: Fathers here, have you ever bathed your daughter before? Mothers, do you think it’s wrong?
