Ze stelt wat “vragen over de organisatie”, ze wil “extra regels” en ze vindt het “jammer” dat andere Palestijnse organisaties er last van hebben. Nietszeggende, halfbakken prietpraat. Had dit exact dezelfde haatspraak uit een rechtse, witte hoek gekomen, dan had ze binnen mum van tijd de ME opgetrommeld, het verbod getekend en de organisatoren voor de camera’s als gevaar voor de rechtsstaat neergezet. Maar nu het uit een pro-Palestijnse hoek komt kiest ze voor de bekende Amsterdamse knieval: bang om voor “islamofoob” te worden uitgemaakt. Bang om de echte dadergroep aan te wijzen. Bang om consequent op te treden tegen de haat die Joodse Amsterdammers elke week opnieuw de stuipen op het lijf jaagt. In plaats daarvan krijgen we een virtuele schouderklop: “Je mag best kritiek hebben op Israël, prima.” Alsof iemand dat ontkent. Alsof de vergelijking met nazi’s of de microfoon die “toevallig” in handen van antisemieten valt opeens geen haat meer is zodra het vanuit een bepaalde hoek komt. Dit is geen neutraliteit. Dit is selectieve blindheid. Dit is precies waarom Joodse burgers in Amsterdam zich niet meer veilig voelen op straat. Omdat de hoogste gezagsdrager van de stad wel ziet wat er gebeurt, het hardop benoemt… en vervolgens niks doet! Femke Halsema, je woorden zijn niet alleen nietszeggend. Ze zijn een klap in het gezicht van iedereen die écht gelooft in vrijheid van meningsuiting en in de bescherming van minderheden tegen haat. Je bent niet “voorzichtig”. Je bent laf. En de Joodse gemeenschap in jouw stad betaalt de prijs.
