@WB_Baskerville I understand that position as I think for most people high school isn't a center for DEEP literary analysis and lost modern people don't care if their children understand the arts, on either side.

@WB_Baskerville Peter Hitchens once said that education in America didn't really begin till college and I understand it in this way because it isn't till then when people understand you as being intellectually capable of being exposed to religious texts without it being indoctrination.

“Should you be required to read the Bible in school” is an irritating question because both the people who support it and those who oppose it hold their views for entirely instrumental reasons.

@si_rubinstein I'm a lib and all for pluralism, I just don't think the American model and Canadian model concerning minority cultures, particularly immigrant cultures, are all that different.

@si_rubinstein It's mostly a distinction without a difference with the exception of French Canadians and their place within Canada. For the immigrant groups that came in the late 19th century and later; Chinese, Nigerian, Italian, ect. there isn't much of a difference between the two.

Maybe I’m too JJ McCullough-pilled but I really don’t get this bit of Canadian anti-Americanism. It is so obviously empirically false. In what sense does beautiful mosaic multicultural Toronto *feel* different from horrible conformist industrial melting pot multicultural NYC?

Theologically I'm closest to Catholicism, though it's not a realistic option for me. Open to Anglicanism and Orthodoxy as well.

@redeemedtrooner I always find it interesting when magisterial Protestants say they are closer to Rome than other Protestant traditions, especially since it's very much not my experience. However, I came to Anglicanism via Presbyterianism so I shouldn't be surprised.

@EiratheIntern I'd think that Tribal representation would be non geographic and would include citizens of the given nation. If we were to do it for the whole country, rather than only for particular tribes, I could see adding congressmen who are elected by people who are enrolled in any tribe.

I do think Indian Tribes should have been integrated as states from the beginning. I'd support this, but they'd have to fully implement the constitution to do so and given their small size, meet some population requirement to qualify, either through confederation or growth.
