Under that agreement, Iran surrendered 97% of its enriched uranium, retaining a small amount of low-enriched material; D/Ced 13k advanced centerfuges and a heavy-water reactor; and submitted to intrusive inspections. They're program was enfeebled and frozen. When Trump ripped up the agreement, they resumed enriching uranium to much closer to weapon grade. Maybe a little forethought would have been a good thing???
