There are more than 1.8 million Pakistanis living in the UK per the 2021 census. This is the largest Pakistani community in Europe. The biggest communities are in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Bradford. The last one is known as “Little Pakistan” with more than 25% of the residents being Pakistani. So what does this enormous group bring with them? Other than takeaways food shops. Well, 84% of grooming gangs are of Pakistani origin. Pakistan still condones honour killings with 155 women killed this way in just 5 months last year. And then there are children being married to grown men. 4.6 million girls were married before the age of 15 and a recent court ruling confirmed that a marriage involving a girl is valid if she has reached puberty. Even though that could be at age 11. So this is the background of the people coming to the UK. More and more come every year through family reunification schemes. And we wonder why their values might be different to our own.

Now that the Southport review is complete, it should horrify everyone. The parents were found to be particularly to be blame: they found excuses for him and stopped his radicalisation being treated. Rudakubana had only left his house for the previous two years when he wanted to hurt someone or threaten someone! The Chair of the review also was "particularly concerned" that Rudakubana wasn't arrested in October 2019, despite taking a knife into school at least 10 times with the intention of harming pupils. He was referred to Prevent three times by the school and was rejected for treatment. The problem is that nothing will change. Kids like him will still be radicalised because of backwards ideologies and parents will continue to protect them. And more little girls like Elsie Dot Stancombe, Bebe King and Alice da Silva Aguiar will be at risk. The fact that he did not even get a whole life order but could be free eventually (he received 52 years on paper) is one further insult to the memory of these girls.
