Schools must reject budject cuts. They must send a clear message to government that you destroy what you cut too far.

The introduction of T levels sounds excellent to me. For technical education to gain some parity with academic, at long last.

Choice - this Tory obsession with choice - derives from market thinking. That want competition, not collaboration between schools.

Tory party believe that school choice is the key to a good education. There was me thinking it was all down to the teaching.

@LynOReilly In Finland, the top in the class are held back far less than the bottom are lifted up. Low streams in UK entrench failure?

Am I correct in saying that streaming in schools tends to help the few at the expense of the many? Finland tends to avoid it.

@CondurJ Yes. Teachers also even more so. And so evidently unnecessary : teachers overloaded and childhood development stymied.

I wish we would follow Finland’s lead and adopt a cross-party agreement that defers to education experts.

Toby Young on Radio 4 sees schools teaching latin as a good thing. Ever the elite favouring academia, never for hands-on skills.
