Welcome to the world Jasper. I can’t believe you’ve been with us for 11 days already. We had a beautiful planned home birth, which is just the start of our magical journey together. Love you to the moon and back. 💫💙💫💙 #homebirth #yourchoice

Hey! I’ve had a leadership coaching day with a school postponed on Wednesday as someone phoned today to say they are visiting! 😉 So, if any school leaders fancy a free hour of online coaching on Wednesday get in touch.

She never lived to see this moment, but it’s worth remembering that none of this would have happened without Virginia Giuffre. She had the courage to speak out against power & privilege when it was just her word against Andrew’s. Thanks to her, justice may finally have its day.

@RogersHistory @JohnBaldLangLit @HLTAUK Are you working in mainstream now Tom? Just curious, as to what made you switch out from special education back into mainstream? I’ve done both, and AP, but haven’t been in mainstream for a very long time.

No, I would say the teaching and the behaviour are different. The whole thing is just a different dynamic. Even with challenging students in a small group setting, it can become more seminar-like. You can afford to have more 1-1 conversations. You can be more experimental pedagogically. You have less to worry about because less to monitor. Student behaviour tends to be better in general as less around to distract. So much more.

There is a big difference between teaching very small groups of children in nurture groups, in special schools, in AP's or counselling sessions, in 1-1 or small group mentoring VS classroom teaching 25/30+ in a mainstream school. Some genuinely don't seem to understand this (prob cos they have never done the latter). This dynamic is COMPLETELY diffrerent.

Here’s my updated lesson slides on the intro of Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. I don’t really post my ACC lessons because I’m not sure how great they are but if they help one English teacher with planning and workload, I’m happy to share. Comment below if you’d like a copy. 👇🏽

Work day today! I want to encourage every teacher on this platform to share one resource or strategy they've used this week that they've felt was good. We will never get old Twitter back but there is still hope. #onething sharing is caring!

Question for other parents: How are you explaining Santa getting into the house to drop off the presents if you don't have a chimney? Have been under tough cross examination by the 7 year old.

What a joy to be back in Parliament with our brilliant team of women who made the coercive control law a reality. The law was pioneering and it’s helped thousands and thousands of victims. We centered victims voices in our campaign. Laws must reflect the reality of women’s and children’s experiences. We gave it a name, language, legal framework and lens. It’s been a game changer with many countries following our lead. I’m proud of what our incredible team achieved 💜 We often look at all the things that must be improved (including increasing the sentence to at least 10 years) but it’s important to mark and celebrate a monumental accomplishment like this. It was history in the making - and that’s worth talking about 💜 Every time we talk about coercive control- another person understands what happened to them and can take action 💜 #CoerciveControl #Landmark #LawReform #Parliament #Entrapment #Pattern #Stalking #MaleEntitlement #MurderInSlowMotion #PreventMurderInSlowMotion™️ #Patriarchy #DomesticHomicide #Separation #Escalation #Risk #HighRisk #WarningSigns #DomesticViolence #DomesticViolenceAwareness #CrimeAnalyst #Expert @laurarichards99 @dashchecklist

It is beyond belief that Cafcass recommended, and the court ordered, overnight contact for a child with a father who had had numerous findings of extremely serious domestic abuse against him over a sustained period of time. It’s horrendous that courts are continuing to prioritise a perpetrator father’s rights over the safety of the child and mother. This is why transparency is so important. Without @AndhaBandar shining a spotlight on this case no one would be aware of this appalling decision. I hope the mother is going to appeal.

I find myself quite often reminding people that education is not the same as learning, and qualifications are not the same as understanding. Universities are not the sole site of knowledge or evidence. They do not own or control what can be considered learning, studying or knowledge. I find it so fascinating that people now believe that the only place they can go to become learned is a university: a corporation, a business. They forget that studying and learning is something we can all do for free, and we can all do in our own time, in our own ways.

We don’t have a ‘mental health crisis’. We have a poverty and cost of living crisis. A trauma and child abuse crisis. A domestic and sexual abuse crisis. A bullying and violence crisis. A working-80-hour-weeks crisis. A healthcare crisis. A social media crisis. An oppression and discrimination crisis. A quality of life crisis. A debt crisis. A social expectations crisis. A body image crisis. Convincing us that all our external pressures and stressors are inside our heads, caused by a mystery mental illness - is gaslighting at its finest. If it’s in our heads, and we are ill, and we are ‘not coping’, then nothing has to change except us.
