Kenya Met Department 🇰🇪
KMD is at #COP29 the famously dubbed Finance COP Fair share responsibility: ODI Global has outlined a fair share climate finance goal, based on historical responsibility for climate change, capacity to pay, and population size for all rich countries. See it below.

Developed countries should have put a #ClimateFinance quantum on the negotiating table by now The math is simple. $1.3tn/yr. Expert analysis by ODI Global 👇🏾👇🏾 says it should be no less than $900bn in grants and grants-equivalent. #TrillionReasonsFromAfrica #COP29Baku

A Trumpist repeal of the climate portions of IRA, BIL, CHIPS would harm the US. Think of it as the opposite of global reaction after IRA passed. It creates tens of billions of dollars in opportunities for other countries. NEW: @NZpolicylab @bentleyballan netzeropolicylab.com/trump-retreat

For climate advocates across the country, the outcome of this election means that all of us must find ways to redouble our efforts and find bipartisan solutions to the climate crisis that create jobs, promote prosperity and safeguard the future of humanity. In a moment such as this, it is important to remember that all major reform efforts, from civil rights to the climate movement, suffer dark days. And this is surely one. We can mourn a loss, but we can’t linger in despair. Our planet doesn’t have time for that. Now more than ever, this movement needs engagement and leadership from all corners of the country. During a down moment in the struggle for civil rights, Martin Luther King, Jr. said something about overcoming days like this: “If you can’t fly, run; if you can’t run, walk; if you can’t walk, crawl; but by all means keep moving.” We know the line to solutions is never straight or easy. But we have won major victories in tackling the climate crisis and reducing climate pollution in our country, and we will again. My greatest source of hope comes from the courage and commitment of grassroots leaders and advocates in the U.S. and around the world who are relentlessly pushing for progress. Onward.

We will work with the next 🇺🇸 administration wherever possible to address the 🌎 #ClimateCrisis. For 🇩🇪 and the 🇪🇺, the transition to climate neutrality is a cornerstone of our future competitiveness. We will continue to implement our climate laws and the #ParisAgreement.

The EU must now stand particularly close - and act united. As Chancellor, I am working towards this goal, jointly with @EmmanuelMacron. We are coordinating closely with the heads of state and government of the EU - tomorrow in Budapest, and in the coming weeks. (2/3)
