Agreed and a lot of the problem comes from folks thinking they “know” the rules and haven’t a clue. I am still looking for HS “Over The Back.”

@gobucks18280071 I've never complained about small venues. As a matter of fact, I've chastised those who do. So I don't know where that's coming from.

@EricLessig And you wonder why nobody wants to host. I can’t wait till BGSU just says forget and then you can go back to complaining about small venues.

Shoutout to everyone publicly crucifying BGSU right now for their stupidity. You all are the real MVPs.

So was this just a BGSU policy or was it universal throughout all tournament sites? No matter what.....it's still a 💩 way of doing business.

@EricLessig @_MikeRoth Just at BGSU this year. Never had to pay in my 14 years of doing this. The OHSAA will hear about it this weekend.

Just had to pay a mandatory fee of $10 per game (plus a $5 credit card fee so $25) as credentialed media at Bowling Green for ‘outlets and internet’ that I specifically did not request. Genuinely unbelievable how far the NW tournament has fallen, I hope BG appreciated my donation

@EricLessig @_MikeRoth $10 per media outlet. We didn’t use internet or electricity. $10 fee regardless. So for Ogden (Courier, A-T, Register) it cost $30 to cover 3 games this week

@nv_hoops @MartinRPI I said previously that such an idea was something I could have gotten on board with.

@MartinRPI 5 divisions Top 96 in d1, d2-5 even split (175ish) New CB - open enrollment & private move up one division, d2-5 state champs move up one the next year. Current formula - throw it out the window.

I’ll admit I’m late to the party here as an early supporter of 7 divisions. I let it play out for a couple years & I’ve done a full 180. Preaching to the choir for most of you, but there’s teams playing at Regionals this week that wouldn’t make it out of Sectionals in 4 divisions. Going to the 9 Regional games at BGSU was one of the best weeks of the year for me for the last 15 years—my excitement level for the 9 games there this week is nonexistent. Some of these games I’d put 30-pt spreads on. District Final Saturday used to be the best day of the tournament, now it’s littered with blowouts. OHSAA has completely ruined it.

Food for thought... How does one reconcile that the expansion to 7 divisions diluted things too much with the fact that it gives more schools more opportunities?

@WOSNScores For what it's worth, I've noticed fewer of those the last year or so than say, during the COVID year and the few years after.

It's high school basketball tournament time, and I can tell because fake accounts are jumping online and claiming they have live feeds of games. Unless it's an account affiliated with a school or credible station or news source IT'S PROBABLY FAKE! Be careful these next few weeks
