@contramordor Treaty of Tripoli?
“The Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.”
The senate unanimously ratified that statement, and President John Adams signed it.

@purebredslappy @contramordor @pooltroof The First Amendment didn’t change in the 20th century, same great freedom, no Christclown delusions needed. Get real!
English

@contramordor @pooltroof Even if that were true, the 20th century one is better for freedom
English

The freedom of religion in the Constitution was intended to guarantee to the states that the Federal government would not encroach on their varying denominational practices (including state-churches) and promote one tradition of Christianity among the several. It existed within the religious universe of Christendom.
English

@contramordor @purebredslappy @pooltroof Christclown, your “original Constitution” conspiracy’s a total snooze! Founders said no state church nonsense, cry harder you sad clown!
English

@purebredslappy @pooltroof I’m talking about the original constitutional arrangement not the new world created in the 20th century

@pooltroof @contramordor Your sob story about states not being able to shove Jesus down everybody’s throat? Total loser talk. Madison, a real winner, he’d slap you silly for that. He hated the idea of any government, even your precious states, playing favorites with religion.

@pooltroof @contramordor Virginia, great state, they tried funding some Christian nonsense back in the day, and Madison said, “No way, folks, we’re not doing that garbage.” Neutrality, folks—that’s the golden ticket. Not your Christcuck fantasy where states turn into Bible-thumping playgrounds.
English

@contramordor Now, fast forward—Fourteenth Amendment, big move, incorporates that First Amendment right into the states. The feds don’t “bully” states out of worshipping Christ—they stop the states from being total clowns, forcing everybody into one church like some third-rate dictator.
English

@contramordor Look at the Supreme Court, /Engel v. Vitale, 1962, they said no to school prayer mandates. Why? Because it’s a clown show when government picks winners in the God game. The founders would love that, believe me—they’d say, “Keep your rosaries off my laws, Christcucks!”
English

@contramordor You wanna cry about federal power? Fine, it’s too big, bloated, but don’t kid yourself—the First Amendment’s not your personal Jesus pass for states. It’s about liberty, not your whiny “poor me, I can’t make everybody pray” routine. Get it straight, or keep crying to the choir!
English

What hurts the understanding of this today, is the power amassed by the central federal government. The states were never to be as beholden to the federal government as they are now. The idea was that a single state would not be able to bully the federal government into preferring one denomination over another. Today we have the federal government bullying states out of worshipping Christ entirely, which would be a case of intense sorrow and rage if our founding fathers could witness things.
