Look I get it man. March Madness was my favorite sporting event of all time. My favorite sports memories come from it. But I see the writing on the wall. NIL changed how teams are built, and the top teams are so good that it’s unfair. These games look so much more mismatched than I ever remember. Just look at the total number of first round upsets. From 2011 to 2024, there were an average of 5.7 upsets in every first round. The most was in 2016 when we had 8, and the least was in 2015, 2017, and 2023 when we had 4. But in 2015 and 2023, those few upsets were actually great upsets. 2015 had two 14 over 3 wins, and 2023 had a 1 over 16, 2 over 15 and 3 over 14. And even in a year like 2017 where we only had a 12 over 5 as the biggest, the other games were still competitive until the end. Last year and this year, we’ve had three upsets, the biggest being a 12 over 5 in both years. But those teams had to claw and scratch to barely win while the lower teams are getting blown out of the stadium. And one of those upsets wasn’t even an upset since Colorado State was favored. So we’re getting less upsets and more lopsided matchups. Look at this year so far. The two big upsets were High Point over Wisconsin and VCU over UNC. VCU needed a miracle comeback and High Point needed a miracle tip and last second play to survive. They say they can still compete, but I don’t know if they can take down Arkansas. I know people are gonna hate me for this, but I think we might need another tournament like this where all the lower seeds get blown out again just so people might actually want to make a change

The pessimist will focus solely on the results of Santa Clara, Akron, Wright St & Hofstra losing. All 4, especially SCU & WSU, showed why so many enjoyed watching them this season. Call me a mid major “homer”, the reality is if you truly cover all 365, 80+% of teams are mid majors🤷‍♂️

Hey @NCAA Selection Committee… quick reminder that the New Mexico Lobos beat VCU… at VCU. Oh, and the Lobos put up 107 pts last night in the NIT. Maybe the MWC deserved more than one bid. Great basketball played out here, check it out some time. Congrats VCU! #GoLobos

So VCU wasn't good enough to get an at large bid if they didn't win A-10 Tourney?

You can’t criticize somebody for not making Sweet 16’s at a program where they’re not consistently expected to get protected seeds.

So…. they don’t get any protected seeds and don’t make any Sweet 16’s, but consistently wear home whites and have won tournament games three times in five years. For a small school of 2000 undergrads in a mid-major league. Not seeing the issue here

Interviewing College coaches at the half is bad enough…. ….but interviewing players coming out of the halftime break is just unnecessarily ridiculous.

Rarely would you say a 16 seed blew it losing to a 1 seed. But Siena was in the drivers seat much of the game to beat Duke. Missed a ton of open shots. Wild to think about it. Duke survives.

Earlier today, South Florida became just the second team in NCAA Tournament history to lose a game while picking up 18+ offensive rebounds and 15+ steals. The Bulls join 1996 Mississippi Valley State on that list.
