As for me, whenever Nigeria calls me, I will answer. It's my home and there's nothing I can do about it. It's a trash country, but it's my trash country. I don't have another one. But having said that, I won't be jumping up and being a hero like I did in 2023. Not because I have a problem with lighting myself on fire and suffering alone, but because I saw firsthand that it does not work. You people want heroes, but heroes are not what you need. All a hero is in Nigeria is a dead guy that becomes a symbol for late night igbo-smoking and rhythmic swaying to a fake-deep Burna Boy tribute soundtrack. A hero is a completely useless thing in Nigeria. What you people need is a full-spectrum nationwide rebellion that is so vicious, bloody and violent that it will alter the entire course of West African history. What you don't need is another individual hero who will end up dead or in jail so that you will tweet "Free XYZ" or enthusiastically smoke igbo while singing along to the posthumous Burna Boy tribute song. So never ask me to "come back and lead" anything. When I come back, it will be the same way I left Abuja - arm in arm with thousands of my contemporaries marching down Shehu Shagari Way in unison. It won't be to become yet another useless Nigerian hero symbol that cannot change the price of garri in the market.

Insecurity in Northern Nigeria has brought untold suffering !!! Today, I want to share the story of 2 friends, Malam Tanimu, a former 2 time councilor, and Ashiru, a farmer !!! They were from Yan Waren Daji town in Tsafe LGA, Zamfara State !!! Tanimu had been battling kidney problems !!! His health was deteriorating, so in 2022, he traveled with Ashiru to Dandume LGA in Katsina to see a local herbalist !!! While in Dandume, a friend of tanimu from Tsafe called Tanimu asking a favour, to collect a parcel from Dandume for him and bring it back to Tsafe, Tanimu agreed !!! Locals told them the pickup location was in a village outside Dandume town !!! Roads were bad, so they parked their car in Dandume and took motorcycles !!! They were directed to a spot and told to dismount !!! Shortly after, bandits emerged from the bush and took them into the forest !!! Their phones were switched off !!! A week later, kidnappers contacted their families and demanded N100 million ransom !!! After weeks of negotiations, it was reduced to N10 million Naira plus a motorcycle !!! When Tanimu spoke to his family, he was crying !!! Saying his health was failing !!! His eyes had been covered with a cloth since abduction !!! Ashiru couldn't speak, he is suffering badly from a gun shot wound on his leg as he tried escaping !!! Families struggled to raise the money !!! But before it could be delivered, Ashiru died in captivity from his gunshot wound !!! They had been held for 3 months !!! The ransom was paid !!! The bandits refused to release Tanimu, they demanded another N5 million Naira !!! Then the Air Force struck the camp from the skies, in the chaos, captives fled !!! Bandits scattered !!! Tanimu was running with another captive !!! He collapsed, exhausted and weak from Athsma and kidney disease !!! At one point during their escape, the companion carried Tanimu on his back and ran with him, trying to get them both to safety !!! But he soon became exhausted and could not continue !!! His companion begged him to keep going !!! Tanimu said he couldn't run another inch !!! His companion begged him to crawl into the grass to hide from the kidnappers !!! Tanimu stopped responding and was too heavy to carry !!! In his final moments, Tanimu said, Please, if you make it out alive, go to Tsafe and tell them what happened !!! “Let my family and children have peace when they hear the news of my death” !!! The kidnappers were closing in !!! The companion fled and climbed a tree !!! From there, he watched bandits find Tanimu lying helpless !!! Even though he seemed lifeless, they shot him twice, in the chest and stomach !!! The companion escaped, reached a village, and was taken to the police !!! He went to Tsafe and found people who knew Tanimu and Ashiru !!! He told them everything !!! Tanimu's body was recovered days later, already decomposing !!! He was buried in Tsafe cemetery !!! He had spent 3 months in captivity before his death !!! Ashiru's body was never recovered !! The community observed Salatul Ghaib, funeral prayer in absentia for Ashiru !!! The companion who survived to tell the story, passed away 3 weeks later !!! He had been badly tortured during his stay in captivity !!! Before he died, he revealed one final truth, while in captivity, Tanimu told him that the friend who called from Tsafe asking him to collect that parcel, was the one who set them up !!! He had sold them to the kidnappers !!! These are not just stories to scroll past !!! These are real people, fathers, friends, neighbours who were exposed to horrors we cannot imagine !!! They died far from home, far from comfort, far from the peace they deserved !!! The 2 images attached are of Tanimu and Ashiru respectively !!! May Allah have mercy on Tanimu, Ashiru, and their brave companion who told narrated what happened !!! May Allah grant them Al Jannah !!! Ameen !!!
