20 years experience developing custom HR systems, I'm sure some of my systems are in your stats, I would love to be in on this project. No angle, just a shared desire for a single government platform that actually solves HR issues. I got some stories about vendors and government vendors, let me tell you!

Core HR systems (onboarding, job histories, org chart, benefits, etc.) are not consolidated in the federal workforce. From a March 2025 @USGSA survey of 29 agencies, there are 111 instances of 59 unique HR software products offered by 19 commercial vendors and 11 federal “vendors”. Price per employee for these systems are 3-10x higher than in private industry. And the majority of said systems do not allow the agencies to easily create or view a basic org chart. DOGE and agencies are working to fix, with pilot projects starting this week.

@frankprochaska Bring back the bonfire, renaming it could be an idea, name the companies/team/units that work the fire after those loss. Seems like everyone would be connected and the tradition would continue.

The bonfire collapse happened 24 years ago later tonight (early tomorrow). I was a 5th year there. My corps unit was on stack. I had friends. Anyway, I always get melancholy and I would like a better tradition. Does anyone else do anything meaningful just to remember?

@frankprochaska Every time the Oilers, Texans or Astros lost in the playoffs, I watched their victors payoff run, not sure I wore a hat. I really wished Oilers had not pooped the bed in 92 and got to meet (and lose to) the Cowboys in the Superbowl.

I think I’m just going to assume that everyone in Houston wearing and Astros hat is now supporting the Rangers. Because science. It’s settled.
