@TadpoleThaddeus @MTBlack2567 Yes! I even occasionally add when asked what my character speaks that sure, RAW I speak elvish, but it's only what I picked up because I grew up in [insert major fantasy city here]. Unless that scroll says "Where's the closest inn?" there's no chance I can read it.

What part of #dnd do you REALLY wish was a bit more realistic?

@dungeonsanddraw My favorite part about TTRPGs is the RP, so when I build a PC I choose a personality then a class based on that and what hole I need to fill in the party, then I pick the race I envision that character as. Even after all that I lean planetouched. Lots of tieflings and aasimars.

@dungeonsanddraw Not exactly. Played for 1 hour 15 yrs ago. It was all of our first time except the DM. It was his second. Dropped it when half the group wasn't into it. Didn't play again til 7 yrs ago. Lilyn I remember well. That HB campaign ended up being revamped into our current AP podcast.

@dungeonsanddraw I tend towards planetouched characters. My PC list is full of teifling, aasimar, and genasi characters. I guess I lean into human... but different! lol

@chimerapod Also agreed. We've had our fair share of high tension flavorful combat, but then the next episode I catch myself saying "I shoot it again" for the third turn in a row and realize I need to spice it up a bit, lol.

@chimerapod This is how we ended up changing the way we calculate crit damage. Instead of doubling the roll or rolling twice, we roll the dice +max damage of all dice +mods. It makes for some really big hits and crits feel extra exciting. We even started using it in our casual games too.

@chimerapod The combat is the most boring part of most AP content. (My own is guilty of this as well.) It's easy to get caught up in the repetitive nature of combat and forget about being entertaining. Add flavor, more banter, come up with ways to speed it up, or edit the crap out of it.

@JasonThigpen12 @DungeonMasterSc 100%. There shouldn't be an outburst big enough to cause lasting bad feelings between player and DM. Just a few of the comments seemed to be meant in a demeaning tone to people who let themselves get attached. Personally I wouldn't enjoy the game if I wasn't emotionally invested.

@DungeonMasterSc I guess I generally play much more long format and role play heavy games than a lot of people, but for example, my longest running character I've been playing for like 6 years. It should be reasonable for me to be visably upset if she died.

@DungeonMasterSc I hate all the "play with adults" or "get them therapy" or anything assuming that being attached to your PC makes you a child or unstable. Bad take, guys. Granted raging (especially at the DM) should not be the response, but in my games there's usually at least some tears...
